    Hey all,

I generally order from DigiKey, and they have these two logic probes available: http://www.digikey.ca/product-search/en/test-and-measurement/equipment-specialty/2294595?k=Logic%20probe.

From looking at the spec sheets, they're more or less identical save for one running at 20 MHz and the other being at 50 MHz. The 50 MHz one has a couple more bells and whistles (two LEDs, really). Long story short, I'm pretty sure either one of these would meet my pinball needs.

The questions I have are, would it be worth it to buy either of these, or are they overkill (I hear the price of $20-$25 tossed around)? And if yeah, it's worth getting either one of these, is it worth the extra $15 for the higher-end one? I'm new to this, and know what a logic probe does/how it's used, but the tech specs of it leave me a bit confused. Thanks in advance.

20 MHz is good enough for pinball repair. The listing didn't say, but having an audio beep along with the led's is a nice, but not necessary, feature. Elenco or Tenma also have decent products although the manuals are in Chenglish, but there are plenty of online resources.

Ouch! Plenty of choices under $20 shipped on Ebay including some of those exact part numbers.

That looks like the same logic probe i have, which has an audio beep. I assume mine is the 20MHz and works plenty fine. I think a Bally MPU runs at around 1MHz. That price looks high. I think i paid $15 for mine.

The audio is pretty important to me. You learn simply by listening, what a bad signal sounds like. The LED flashes just don't have the subtle variations that the audio has.
