Hi all, I am a complete newbie when it comes to wiring so hope the group can help me. I want to add a series of tracks to my Bally Dolly Parton game to start up when I turn the machine on and have it play throughout the gameplay. I don't need any fancy additional sounds or triggers (at this point). I saw in another post that people have used the SparkFun MP3 Trigger (and also the WAV trigger, but these are on backorder) for this reason but I need help figuring out how to trigger this thing to play. My first thought was to have a photocell that would activate the MP3 trigger when the game is turned on, but I have no idea what parts I need to make this happen (outside of the board, power, SD card, and output). Can anyone offer up some advice? I am also open to suggestions on other ways to activate when the game turns on outside of a photocell (maybe when the first ball is played?). Thanks

I've used these in the past. https://www.adafruit.com/product/2133

All you have to do is ground any pin on there and the associated audio clip will play. You can always use a relay to close a line to ground when a voltage is applied to the other side of the relay from the machine powering on.

You could try the NBII mpu. It has a jukebox mode for when the game is not being played, and also when it is being played. It might be the more expensive way to go, but much easier to implement.
