Alright I've got a choice between these two and am absolutely torn. Both of these are on my want list and are available now, so I have to make a decision like, today!! What say you gents?? I do have decisions made between both in terms of overall condition, so now I am basing final decision on gameplay, and longevity. I feel like everyone loves Monopoly, but Whirlwind is pretty much loved by all also. Obviously I'd ideally like to own both.

Both good games. Whirlwind is a much better game in my opinion. I traded my Whirlwind once and went an entire four days before I bought another one. It wont happen again. I have played monopoly several times and have passed on what I thought was a pretty good price. .

WW by a mile....all time classic...and I'm one of the few that thinks Monopoly is actually pretty cool.

Ha agreed!

Whirlwind hands down....I'm originally from KS, so I am biased! lol

I've owned Monopoly. It lasted about a month in my house. Get the Whirlwind.

#7 4 years ago

Can't wait to get my hands on a Whirlwind!

Pat Lawlor's a genius, but Whirlwind is one of his best games and Monopoly is one of his okayest games.

then buy them both! problem solved!

in all honesty, i'd say go whirlwind because i feel it's more easily sold/traded.

#10 4 years ago

Neither I really don't care for either of the games. Whirlwind just gets annoying with all the same call outs repeated over and over..

#11 4 years ago

OP, do you own any games? If yes, what are they?

#12 4 years ago

whirlwind

ugh wish I didn't have to pass on the last one offered to me

Damn holidays

#13 4 years ago

I owned Monopoly for a while. Fun game but it got old after a couple months. My family loved it though.

Personally I would go Whirlwind. Much more fun and balanced of a game that keeps you coming back for more.

I have been searching for 4 years. I missed out on 5, passed on 2 that were trashed.

I was unaware that Pat had a hand in that, interesting.

I offered you my beautiful one for a great price before it moved on

#17 4 years ago

WW hands down. It's one of my all time favorite games. I really really miss mine.

But, you know that I don't do pre-modded machines. I like'em bone stock.

WW fo sho

#22 4 years ago

I love whirlwind. I think Monopoly is one of the most boring games ever made.

#23 4 years ago

Whirlwind is my preference. That being said, do you own any other games? If you don't, Monopoly has deeper rules and might hold up better by itself.

Edit: I see you have lots of machines. WW for sure!

#24 4 years ago

I figured most or all of you guys would say WW. I have already owned Monopoly, but it was in worse shape than this current one which is another reason that I wanted it. Well!! I was leaning about 3% more towards WW, so WW it shall be then!!

Yes. I mentioned them in post #19

#26 4 years ago

ww over monopoly all day.

#27 4 years ago

Like others have said WW by a mile. Monopoly is decent, but WW is classic.

#28 4 years ago

WW for sure especially since you have a good collection of games already!

#29 4 years ago

ww unless monopoly gets finished code.

There's nothing wrong with Monopoly, but WW is a classic.

Had them both at the same time.
During pinball nights everybody would play a couple games on whirlwind.
Then just play monopoly the rest of the night.
That's why WW is gone and monopoly is still around.

I traded mine in a package deal for a white water. Four days later one came up on craigslist with the bad display for $750. I really just got lucky.

I agree, one of the few games where I was excited for ball 3 to end.

I would vote WW. I only played monopoly at PBHOF, didn't grab me. I owned ww was sad to sell it for room.

#38 4 years ago

WW is a timeless masterpiece. Get it and never look back.

#39 4 years ago

Whirlwind. Regret selling mine a few years ago.

#40 4 years ago

I love monopoly, looks like I might be the only person who does, plays great an the art work is awsome.

#41 4 years ago

They're both very similar playfield wise.. I've had them both at the same time in my gameroom once and played Monopoly more as it was newer then and offered a bit more (like a dmd).
I'd just buy the first one I'd find for a good price..

#42 4 years ago

Two good games but i really prefer the ww terrible theme an pf.
And it ll be an easy trade for sure

Indeed, and I would have had to pull every single one to completely redo the machine to my liking and possibly have to buy more lol. I pick the machine up tonight if all goes as planned and rain holds off.
