I have a Taxi, PinBot and Black Knight that are in player condition, far from mint but play very well and are played often. There are a few spots on the playfields where the paint is totally worn off and the wood underneath is exposed. I am not interested in expensive high-precision detailing to restore the playfields to mint quality. I just want to do some simple, quick, cheap patchwork to cover the areas where the wood is exposed so its not a painful eyesore during gameplay.

That being said, what type (and perhaps brand) of paint should I use? Are there craft paints that would work that are sold in small bottles so a complete color set could be purchased and applied with a small art brush? Also, after application of paint is it a good or bad idea to place a varnish/lacquer over it to protect the margins where the new paint meets/overlaps the old paint to prevent further chipping? Any advice for preparing the area before application (sanding, cleaning solutions, etc.)?

    Thanks!
