Is the pictured spring supposed to "hook in?" Suggestions to fix? Ramp diverter isn't reliably opening/closing right now. Thanks!

I did this and it seems to be working. Realize it's not proper, but hopefully it can hold indefinitely till the full, correct part arrives.

I had a spare spring with which I created loops on both sides and hooked one end to the hole and the other to the thicker spring.
