Been working on converting TAF’s playfield pivot system to a Stern style playfield slide out system. Required quite a few minor modifications. It’s pretty tight in some spots. So far, so good. (the Williams slide system will not fit on TAF) Planning to build a TAF from parts as this winter's project.

Quoted from High_End_Pins:

Excellent. I thought about doing that a time or two on TAF and never could get it past the thought process.
Never even considered the Stern parts.
Is that a WPC95 cabinet it is resting in?

Thanks, Chris.
Yes, that is a cab originally intended for a WPC-95.

Very nice work!
Could you share your measurements for the mounting holes? I have a WPC cab I need to convert to Stern rails.

Hey RS
In order to get the TAF playfield close to the original depth, the sliding surface of the Stern support rails sit at 11-7/8 in from the cab bottom. They are parallel with the cab bottom. Some other games (FH, WH20, various WPC-95) that I checked sit at different depths.
The front edge of the support rails are positioned 26-3/8 in from interior of the coin door front wood.
The pivot brackets are located 9 in from the playfield top edge.
I tried the brackets with temporary SMS attachment first. I was OK with the placement and then went with the #10 carriage bolts.

Hey Chris
The Pinsider that I bought the playfield from said that it was an original that you touched up and cleared. It sure is pretty.

You're a MAD man, Wally!
I'm going to take for granted the playfield hanger hooks don't hit the cloud topper when it's in the upright position?

Hey Bryan
I'm gonna' have to keep an eye on that.

Looks great! Any mods to Thing's box needed?

Hey Barr
I don't think that there will be clearance problems with Thing. The under playfield metal box cleared everything and the playfield box is tucked behind the backboard which clears right now also.

Tried the topper. Close but OK.

When the TAF playfield is in the full upright position, it leans back slightly to rest on the head. The playfield backboard has to be trimmed in order to clear the pivot support brackets. It might be necessary to trim a little from the plastic ramp near the flasher. It looks like the right side will be OK.
When Bill Webb (local good guy dude) built the cab for me he made it about 1/16 inch wider internally. This helped out with the tight clearance at the subway. I still had to bend the front nub of the right support bracket towards the cab a little.

Finished up the TAF project. I had to trim the plastic ramp flange behind the flasher a bit to clear the slide and pivot support bracket while in the full upright position. Was able to install a taller backboard. (7 in.) Everything worked out OK. More info on build at https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/there-s-one-more-addams-family.

Quoted from damadczar:

When you say backboard, what exactly do you mean? For some reason, I'm blanking.
I see that you shortened the edge side bracket. Don't understand what you mean about a taller backboard. Do you mean the light backboard?

I'm referring to the upright board that is attached to the far back of the playfield. Originally, TAF had a 4 1/2 inch tall backboard. I was able to fit a 7 inch tall board to which I applied some art.
