Hello to the brave ones,I have build Tafg ,is made from scratch with nos and new parts ,but i had to find lane guides used and used all boards in great shape ,
Wiring that I see a lot to worry is very simple and can be made from the same color code of any game that is Williams or Bally the same era or after 1986.
Your best friend will be only the manual.
I have also upgraded the Taf gold with fliptronic 2 board and Optos instead of leaf contacts for the flippers and also no need for the flipper aux board.
Pictures over the internet If you can find from a restoration really help,
Now the best part ,I have personally never had the opportunity to find a helping Taf to copy paste and help me out,or even played it unfortunately,so just waiting for it to be complete and play was making me more motivated.
Keep building guys it is FUN!!

Quoted from Shredder565:

so if I went with this one, what eos switch and coil do I use? and would I still need 4 or 2?
I obviously need bottom left right, thing flips and train kick.
Also, Irony....
and metal, glorious metal. how do these look?[quoted image][quoted image]

Very nice work on the metal you have saved a ton of work cutting them on your own .
Would you like to share the drawings or if not since the company that have cut them for you they can do a re run and cut some more?

#843 3 years ago
Quoted from Shredder565:

send cut send was the place I sent them too.
around $50's.
I still have the drawings. not sure where I could upload them too

If they have your drawings on file then they can do the re run for me ,just need info who to talk to there if there is a quote number that I can use so they can do a re run .
Pm me if you like.

The Mystery purchase gets here next week and will be revealed .

And since I still have it in hand the mystery Purchase and will be shipped tomorrow let’s reveal it.
Addams family playfield wiring for you !!
Now you can say that your game is 1000% legit and with an awesome cabinet!
You are lucky that I was able to remake it for my tafg otherwise I would keep for my self ,well it’s yours to enjoy here are some photos.
I got another 3 Taf playfield wiring.
But when I made my first one With just the manual for my guide,I like it more than the factory made.

Quoted from Shredder565:

so, here is a question.
once I get this playfield fitted in next month....
Would you leave it in there and continue to work on it that way, or take it back out and put it on the Rotis again?

Find the proper height for the playfield and drill the holes for the carriage bolts, and after you confirm, then take out the playfield ,populate it ,test it outside the cabinet that everything is working ,and when everything is confirmed then you put it back to the cabinet and populate the top side.
Confirm all switches ,coils,lamps .

Quoted from pinballinreno:

Install ground braid in the head and lower cabinet.
Install lightboard latches/hinges if you havent already.
install speaker panel brackets and finish the speaker panel if not done already.
Install the boards into the head. Install the interconnect board into the cabinet.
install the cabinet power harness, transformer harness, switchbox etc., plug it into the wall and check the power with a meter across all the transformer leads.
Install the cabinet switch harness.
Dont put the ribbon cables onto the boards yet. Dont hook up the display yet.
plug the power harness into the driver board in the head.
turn game on and check the power at the test points and fuses.
If it all checks out, put on the ribbon cables.
Turn on and check for pulsing LED on the cpu board.
If that checks out, turn it off and hook up the display.
Turn it on and the game should boot with the display.
About 3 days work.

I would suggest since it is a new transformer test the voltages before you plug it in your driver board and not power up and test the voltages on the driver board!!
Also if you would like to enter the menu and test your flipper Optos you will need the lower cabinet wiring.

Hey Neil see these photos are from the manual of a TZ and are the same connections,to identify properly the right connectors see the molex count the pins and see on the manual where they go ,all molex are keyed .

Quoted from Shredder565:

This is where it will get confusing for me. BUT, thankfully I have an office full of electricians to help me keep things organized.
I can most likely read all that and figure it out myself, but chances are pretty good I will mess up with one connector somewhere, so it always helps to have a few extra eyes used to reading schematics around ;o)..
I will save those pages and print them out to hang right next to the topper (don't worry, not taped to the topper )for reference..

Don’t worry I’m here to help you ,and all of us here will guide you to the correct direction.
Before powering up we will confirm everything together!!

Quoted from Shredder565:

yep, that part I remembered .
I noticed that two bottom holes seemed to fit. and I only had to drill two extra top holes to make it work . Not sure if it's going to stay that way yet, but for now it's pretty darn stable!

Have a look at this photo from my Taf !!
This is the proper way to mount the board.

correct! I scoured around and the darn thing was stuck at the middle of the metal ramp and I missed it totally.

Quoted from pinballinreno:

Are you doing regular switches or opto swtches?
How is the wiring setup in your cabinet harness for the flipper buttons?

Flipper buttons are configured as the original wiring not tafg,so here is a photo how to wire your flipper switches and see photo with what you will need to order.

Quoted from Shredder565:

Looks like a canoe, or a fisherman bobber .
those will have to wait a week or two as funds recover .

Yes true but it looks much better than the actual I have in my game.

Quoted from Shredder565:

I think we can let the secret out of the bag now. Dimitri was nice enough to take back my 30 year old harness and COMPLETELY reverse engineer it so it will be ALL NEW wiring. I am sure he will offer the old one up for sale soon .
So, except for the boards, I can now say that this machine will be 98% new parts so far .

Will post some photos of the switch matrix wiring that will be complete on Wednesday and send your way so you can can start familiarize with the 1st stage ,after that will follow ,lamp matrix and solenoid wiring.
What a fun project
Dimitri

My suggestion out of experience is to start working on the lamp matrix since all the wiring is separated in three separated wiring ,after testing the lamp matrix ,start working on the switch matrix and test it and last will be all solenoids.
This way will be so easy to troubleshoot
