Does anyone have any pictures of the THING XX light cable from the DMD to the PCB? will work on that monday while I wait for more tabs.

Tabs? I think you mean lane guide spacers.
There should be a 9 pin connector in your back-box harness kit for it. Contact the maker of the harness if you dont have it.

Yep, the spacers. will be ordering about 20 of them today.
IIRC, the connector wasn't included. but, already have the parts needed to make my own, so just needed to see how many wires where in it and what color .

thanks, totally forgot about that. THING panel light done by Monday. hopefully get those lights working. Maybe after that, I'll start focusing on the plastic ramp and shooter ramp.
Quick Q as I work on the THING lights now that my proper colored wires are here.
What type of cylindrical object do I need to get the correct bending radius on the shooter ramp? Also needs to be strong enough so it doesn't bend to the stainless, I'd wager.

Show a picture of the intended bend?
I use a deep socket with a "C" clamp or a piece of broomstick as a dowel.
I have rubber tip covers for my "C" clamp to avoid marring the finish. You can get them at harbor freight.
The idea is to bend it 1/16" at a time thru many movements of the c clamp.
This method works very well.
Hope everyone has a safe and healthy holiday and new year. HOPING to get the top finished by March at the latest. wired up fully by April and ready to start play testing by May. I want it playable THIS YEAR . Waited long enough!
Not much left to do on the top. I hope to finish the Shooter Ramp and the THING cable light this week (time got away from me). The Ball Guides are done. Missing about 4 posts to complete them, but otherwise done. Thing and his box is properly installed. I still need the bear kick ramp and the wire mesh ramp to do....and to finish up the apron and shooter gauge. The Electric chair is done. I'd like to think i'mat least 50% there.
321522439_531317075616398_5269447891637914819_n (resized).jpgOK, so, thing CABLE LIGHT done. I know where it goes in the DMD. and I THOUGHT I knew where it goes on the pcb in the back box, but looking closer at the picture again, my initial guess is wrong, and the wires are too clustered to tell where it does go. that's one thing done. next to focus on the shooter ramp.
Quoted from Shredder565:how does that look?[quoted image]
Looks ok, more importantly, how does it fit in the game?
I only drilled in the right side for stability. the left side is un drilled on the bottom. and if the pictures are being shown right, it looks like two rivets need to go into the top left and at least one on the bottom flap.
and I still need to fix that rubber ring. as well as the soft jaws for the grip

Thanks for the help it does look great ,your doing a great job on building your own keep up the great work
Been rather quiet on these fronts in the new year, so hope everyone is doing well .
the project bench has been all but empty of parts, as this pinball will be my last custome build project before I enter 'retirement' from that field . I still have out the metalic ramp, the bear kick ramp, and the plastics that have to go in on the top. as well as installing the apron but for the most part, I'd say the top is close too 50% done.
over the break, I learned I appear too be missing a part underneath the playfield that the THING DMD lights connect too. can't seem to find it on the manual list. as I know I have everything from there. once I find out what that is, the DMD thing lights will be up and running...
Things left too do.
1- Figure out where the backboard flashers lights get connected too.
2- find out where the dmd thing lights get connected too.
3. Get the bear Kick ramp done and find out what needs to go on it.
4.finish install of the shooter ramp.
5. get 4 missing posts bought.
6.Instal remaining plastics and the two missing electronic parts on the left ball guides.
That's about all I can think of for the top, and then it's a 'simple' matter of getting the bottom solenoid wiring finished up and the cloud lights done. and that should be all she wrote. Hoping to go into play testing by the summer. although obviously pro's could get into that phase by march .
Also feels weird not waiting for any new pinball parts. Always felt joy at the sense of anticipation of a mail delivery and some more completion work to get done. have to slowly merge back into other hobbies too fill the void.
lets try and get this sucker done almost there!
some progress. I found a apron fence for $100 chromed. and a right flipper guard. with these two items, the bottom top of my playfield should be complete.

Nice that's great news

And thanks to cliffy for the , I think it was $25 but will check, flipper guard pieces.
Those guys are awesome.

Do you have the 7-lamp board PCB and cable for this?
I think the board is part 5768-12377-00 and the cable is 2 foot long, red wires with one yellow wire.
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/board-5768-12377-00
Easy to build the cable if you can’t find one.

Let me know if you need pictures of it installed and I’ll open up my game when I’m back this week and get some.

yep, I built the cable a while back. BUT, supposedly the DMD lights get connected too a part UNDER the playfield, that apparently is not listed on the manual? I have all the lower playfield parts, but I can't find where this cable gets connected.
Quoted from Shredder565:but I can't find where this cable gets connected.
The the lampboard under the DMD!
Quoted from transprtr4u:The the lampboard under the DMD!
of course, that's the obvious end connection for one side. but where does the other connector go?
It's been sitting this way for the last month with the dmd under side connected .
Quoted from transprtr4u:Should go to the main board , sorry been a while since I had a TAF...
Sure someone will chime in with the proper connector number..
Quoted from Shredder565:but where does the other connector go?
The other end has 2 connectors. One goes to J133/J134/J135 (rows, red) the other one to J137/J138 (columns, yellow).
Quoted from Davi:The other end has 2 connectors. One goes to J133/J134/J135 (rows, red) the other one to J137/J138 (columns, yellow).
Did I make it wrong? I made both ends in one piece...
Quoted from Shredder565:Did I make it wrong? I made both ends in one piece...
Yes.
Go to Tests - Single Lamp - stop on one of them. Hit the start button. Then every time you hit the "+" diagnostic steps you through lamp, wire colors, drive transistor, and connector number and pin number.
Rows have one main color and go to one row of pins on the board. Columns have one main color and go to a row of pins on the board.
Rear of the manual has the board connector pinouts and wire colors.
LTG : )
Quoted from Shredder565:Did I make it wrong? I made both ends in one piece...
For THING lightboard harness, you need 3 connectors. I posted the BOM earlier.
First connector goes to the lampboard
Second goes to power driver board (PDB)- contains only one column wire (yellow/grey)
Third goes to PDB - contains 7 red (row) wires
well, that explains why I couldn't find an 11 pin connector to attach it too. in the photos, it looks like all one piece.
speaking of photos...starting too look more like a complete bottom. still have too powder coat the apron and apply the stickers.
I also need the little tabs on the bottom of the playfield the light stars attach too near the curtain 'rods' on the left and right side of things. and the bottom half of the playfield shall be complete.

The powder coater will sandblast off the old paint for a small fee.
well, the powder coat quote came back at $115's with sand blasting...and not quite the correct color.
will have to see if someone here might want to do it, in order to get the proper color scheme going.
will also look around locally, but not sure how easy it is too much color on these things
Not trying to be a negative Nancy, but is powercoating really necessary? By the time you put the decals on and the apron cards in place, there is very little you can see of the apron's paint. And once it is under glass and in dim light, you won't notice.
I sanded mine, primed it, and painted it with semi gloss black spray paint. Nobody has or ever would give it a second look or question its appearance. It looks great.

that would be the easiest way, but it's been mentioned a few times here that powder coating seems too be the way to go with some things. otherwise, I would just power paint it with some krylon.

Not everything has to be the hard way. Automotive paint will end up being a way flatter finish, and it can be touched up easily if need be. Also looks like they painted them originally. I will be painting mine.
Three years in and still going. I admire your perseverance and dedication. I was an early doubter, but you've got me convinced now that you will get this done come hell or high water. Color me impressed.

There's a lot of things posted here and on any enthusiast forums that are the "correct" way to do something. I don't even argue them because I'd get blasted even though I have strong evidence to back up what I'm saying that is contrary to the conventional wisdom.
Powder coating may the the "right" way to do it on a game that is on location and gets a thousand plays a month. It will hold up better to the ball rolling on the front edge and it will take longer to wear a line on the apron. But that's not the case here.
Despite what everyone may say is right, think about it on your own and come to your own decision. In the end, it is your money. Spend it as you please.

I really want too get this thing finished by May and into Play testing. the last big thing too do is the bear kick ramp, and then it's just little stuff. plus the solenoid wiring. This was originally started as not only a passion project, but a covid project. needed something to keep busy with and not feel down with all the 'lock down' stuff that was stupidly going on at the time.
Three more little parts going in. got the last ball guide bent. compared it too an addams family owners club picture and it looks the proper angle. it lives there now, so I hope so . two little parts by the apron done. and just need the part for the little 'star' lights by the curtain rod. anyone have the number for that? need to put in an order with marco for the backboard light molex and extra molex for the dmd fix. will get it all done in one shipment.

also, it was easy too doubt. without the experts here and their patience, I would NOT have gotten this far, and it would have been an early waste of $2,000's to start.
