spent about an hour on the forum looking for switch posts... my terrible google skills strike again ;o)..
So, took out one and set to work.

This probably isn't right . but there wasn't even a picture on the bag to go with it :/.

Just ask for specific switch pictures in the club forum, people will chime in.

When i get a game i have never seen before, or is missing an assembly, pinside always helps me.

For Reference: Not specific to your AF but it is in the same family Bally 1992. Note how the Green wires go to the top of the switch and the white wire goes to the bottom next to the playfield. The diode goes between the white wire and another post on the top of the switch, but not where the green wire is attached. The silver part of the diode points toward the top of the switch.

I noticed this similar arrangement on all my roll over switches. I do not know why you have 2 diodes though. For that you need a wiring diagram manual.

Not quite right...close.

Its a ball eject switch.

Guys in the club forum thread will have decent pics.

You can also search through HEP's thread. He does a great job of documenting things. He's done a few TAF machines and was one of the primary sources that I used when building mine. Just search his thread for TAF or Addams

Hey 565
These are a couple of photos of the ball eject switch in the TAF that I built. (There are additionally over 500 pics in my OneDrive). Link is https://tinyurl.com/58um9vza (disregard date stamps)

hmm, so I wasn't too far off on that one. How does that look?
And why did they include a second diode with it?

Hey 565
Only the 1N4004 diode is necessary. You can always double check things by referring to the parts list. For this example;
1522 .2 A-9381-R eject switch & brkt assy 1
1523 ..3 A-7438-1 terminal strp assy 1
1524 ..3 01-7151 brkt guide 1
1525 ..3 5070-09054-00 diode-1N4004 1.0a 1
1526 ..3 5647-12133-11 switch mini micro 1
1527 ..3 4004-01003-10 ms 4-40X5/8 p-ph-s 2

hmm, not sure why they included two, but they labled one of them 1n, so I swapped out the other one with that one. so at least I know that one is right. OK, So, Now that these three are secured, onto the next one. The Ball Gate Assembly Lift.

Hi Shredder565,

I don't know if you have a wire lead bending tool, but if you don't you may want to consider one as you can make your diodes look nice and uniform on all of your switches. This can be helpful when you need to conserve space under the playfield to avoid potential shorts as well.

Evidently including the gray switch cover in the kit was too much...

No, they elected not to add it to the kit.

Its extra, just like the passenger side mirror on a $200,000 Porsche, or the rear bumper on a $75,000 truck...

This is why I'm done with Marco Specialties. They will charge $6.99 to ship that item, then send it in a $.99 mailer.

Lots of modern systems can take inventory weight/dimensions into account when calculating shipping. Of course, there's no incentive for them to do this (extra money for them), other than the fact that the number one cause for people abandoning online shopping carts is seeing outrageous shipping costs.

#2571 4 months ago

That’s a little unfair. They will ship at $9.99
for a major order. Takes some time to pack and ship one 25 cent part. Most companies have an order minimum to avoid 25 cent orders

I'm sure they have their reasons why it's not in there. and marco is the netflix of pinball sites...so you'd think they know what they are doing and have reasons for doing it.

one by one, the office is getting hit with covid it seems. four people in the last 2 weeks :/. was starting to make good progress on the switches too..at least in assembling them.

None of us really know what we’re doing despite what we claim!

Good work. Keep at it. Finish line is near. And in hindsight, your timing to start it was great. Probably helped keep your sanity through all this COVID crap.

one of the main reasons. Like Egon Spengler, projects keep me focused . helps with the OCD of life. and a good tail end project to celebrate 15 years of prop building .

one more 'fixed' and one more installed. current status. only missing about 6 items for the lower playfield and still more switches.

Fantastic! Any one aspect would be a challenge for the most advanced. Things like Fabricating a wire harness or metal parts. The difficult challange of finding parts available to order. It opens the door to completing some really difficult projects. Great to know it can be done!

just a heads up on updates. Project isn't dead, but funds are close .
waiting till I have some credit expendable, and then will try and get the rest of just the switches finished.

After that's done, I'm only missing about 8 under playfield items.

And then I can finally flip it over and get to work on the top again.

. hopefully it won't take THAT long .

Have a few new toys to pay off first. Just bought a 4K Streaming NX80. that's first . and hope to get back to finish up buying the rest of the switches in April. No idea why there is no sound though. maybe it didn't stream right.

I’m kind of confused, can’t you start soldering the light sockets and components that are currently installed?

#2594 79 days ago

Make one extra of everything . I want to do this too.

So now that you are almost done, Did you make an extra of everything for me?

I remember when you started this and I was wanting to take this sort of project on, and now you are getting done and I am still just thinking about it, I could have been buying parts.

Thank you, I’m going to go for it finally.

I could. But I think it might be wiser to wait until EVERYTHING is installed and made sure it's installed PROPERLY. I don't want to have to go through lots of wires to try and position something somewhere, when it might be easier without the wires.

Just wanted to update folks. projects not dead. just funds dead . still hoping to get back on track in april sometime.

I started my dumpster fire TAF project.
The game is a total backet case. I have to do a total "ground up" restoration on it.

Most of the broken stuff is now fixed.

I installed the electronic flipper opto switches instead of the regular mechanical ones.
Its pretty slick.

Let see who finishes first! lol.

Lol, Paul at virtua-pin says 12 weeks to get me a new cab.

But in the mean time I can get a lot done.

Im thinking 15 or 16 weeks to completion time.

So, there's my time frame!

I should start yet another TAF restore thread! (or not )

There’s plenty of people that will tell you that you can’t or you shouldn’t. Often the same people that have done nothing themselves.
