If you remember in past conversation there is not the proper cut outs for the extra flipper power board. This template was taken from wpc after original addams family but you can use the one bottom right or left to hold the board in place and it has worked fine.

yep, that part I remembered .

I noticed that two bottom holes seemed to fit. and I only had to drill two extra top holes to make it work . Not sure if it's going to stay that way yet, but for now it's pretty darn stable!

Have a look at this photo from my Taf !!
This is the proper way to mount the board.

he is trying real hard , credit where credit due!

#2155 2 years ago

I didn't want to drill in three holes. doing it the /wrong/ way (and yes, it does look bad that way) saved me a hole

You can also just use stick on stand-offs for pc boards.

#2158 2 years ago

well, I tried one more time and put it the 'proper' position. cna you see the one mistake made where the drill slipped and went through a little of the back? heh. thankfully it didn't hit the silk screen, so if I want to fill it later I can . but one mistake out of about 8 holes drilled wasn't bad .

My solution for this little sucker. it bugged the heck out of me that it looks like there should be a place for it [quoted image]

its meant to be there, just turned 90 degrees as i know there but vertical

and i never knew this machine series was in super hifh demand until i looked at my marketwatch email. (it was a special collectors edition gold, was sold when i saw the marketwatch email0

i also know this isnt a gold build but it means addams family is under higher demand. could probably talk to jima about it and work with them to build some machines up from the ground.

#2160 2 years ago

moved it over a little and better positioned the screws. one mistake isn't bad and easy to fix if I ever wanted too

Flat black. Paint stick just to make it less noticeable would work.

LTG : )

#2162 2 years ago

yeah. its an easy fix, this may be being hawked at by potential butyers but i know its your keeper. super easy fix, flat black with bondo inside the hole or something

Mondays job, double check cables, make sure it's ok.

then re-attach to main body.

weekends off?

I could open up and go in by myself, buuuut.....half an hour ride there, half an hour back and who knows how short a cable check? I'll wait till monday .

#2166 2 years ago

long shot. anyone know the name of the wire with the red connection?

I need one about 3 times as long for the controller boards new location . unless I can find a way to hook a volume nob up to it .

what is this for? we are pinball pepole, and this is kindof an off topic thing

#2168 2 years ago

Looks like a controller for an lcd?

I don’t know that the cable has a particular name, but it’s just wires. I’d splice in a longer length or just make you own new cable of the corrected length. Good practice anyway for all the taf wiring.

#2169 2 years ago

yep, it is. it's for the arcade 1up modified hdmi controller. I wanted to move it to a new position so I could always access monitor controls, but it was too short.

I finally found the gauge of wire it used, so I will order some of that andsee if I can't extend it a bit .

Decided to go to the office today and get some stuff done. as I will just sleep the day away with nothing better to do. all the cables are in their proper places...except for two I'm not sure on. J805 and J 504 so this back box is ready to go back on to the machine.

#2170 2 years ago

Wait, you connected all the connectors on the boards? Are you going to run all the wires and solder stuff with the playfield in the game?

Otherwise, you’ll want to make all the connections with the playfield in a rotisserie, then put it in the cab and pull the connector housings up into the head and plug into the boards.

right now, just the ends plugged into the pcb's are installed. the other ends are still dangling.

Well, my friends, if you never thought we'd get this far, shame on you...cause I might have been right there with you. a MOSTLY complete cabinet and complete backbox.

You are getting very close to power up.

That will be impressive.

So, what are we missing for a complete bottom cabinet?

Can't be very many things. Apart from the Line Filter...

Total cost nearing 10K.

first thing for tomorrow, I'll post an updated one .

I know I have to secure the speaker/grill. secure the transformer. get the line filter/install it. but other than that, not sure what's left.

Did you get the special brackets for the speaker panel.

To keep it from falling forward ?

yep, it was included with the dmd

phase 2

Power box assembly.

Playfield support rod.

Flipper switches. I imagine that you are going to use the fliptronics 2 opto board ones? But you can use regular simpler leaf switch ones too, as your flipper board supports both types.

The opto boards are more trouble free and more robust. They just have to be wired up differently.

Mount the cabinet speaker. Face the lugs to the left and make sure a piece of ground braid touches the rim edge.

Tilt/plumb-bob assembly.

Not much, probably get it powered up in about an hour if you have the cables made up.

Thinking about the next steps, did you get a playfield apron yet?

They can be elusive.

i was considering just doing one custom, could work quite well, and makes it less elusive. maybe could do a nice backlit one.
but yeah, will be rare.

Contact pinsider brenna98 and see if he did anything with the aprons.

See if pinsider merfeldma has any.

are they new, or sourced?

And nope, haven't done anything with the playfield in at least 5 months it feels like, maybe longer. it's been neglected trying to get the cabinet powered up.
I am also awaiting on the secret order hopefully in a month or so.

Maybe I can work on the above list in the mean time and get the lower cabinet squared away .

You can save it as the last piece to install on the game, but you cant play a game without it.

The apron is the most difficult part to get on the whole game.

I would work on this and see where to get one, or how to make one.

Out of all the parts I have had to get the apron was easy. You can use plenty of other aprons and then paint and decal. I used an old fish tales apron. I think marcos even has one in stock. I would agree a legit silkscreened version would be tough to find. But with all the homemade/fabricated parts going on, an original apron would not be a major deal breaker.

This is true!

Any similar apron will work.

Just paint it and decal it.

#2192 2 years ago

that'll make that part easier, for sure!

Unless you have to paint it...lol.

I jist got my funhouse apron back from the powder coater.

$75 including the 2 shooter gauges.

Plus $40 for decals...

#2194 2 years ago

well, I'm hoping any decals will cover any bad painting .

Thank you HEP, my line filter is done . One more part ready toward eventual machine power up .
Maybe June at this rate?

#2195 2 years ago

Considering what the market is like right now, I suspect 10k for a better-than-factory condition AF is actually quite a deal.

#2196 2 years ago

not to many updates for a while. My Line Filter gets here hopefully this week. Is this the last part I need to turn it on?

I'm going away for a week to the shore next week, so not working on anything. would be a great place to take a break for a bit.

#2197 2 years ago

speaking of which, THANK YOU HEP. safe and sound . Now for the install!
