Yup, just like I thought, mine's got it. It still has the factory marks in it and by it, too, if that helps solve what it was used for. When I shopped it out when I first got the game, I made sure to clean super gently around these marks for just such an occasion.

The big blue mark is a J, upside down. Then in the hole is a 5 or an S.

PF manufacturer and date is the other pic. Only one I could find at the moment.

Is there a pattern emerging with the different manufacturers yet, with respect to the hole being there or not?

Just curious more than anything.

Guys, the answer is so simple... I am really surprised noone knows what the rounded rectangle dimple/hole is for... It's there for a square bubble leveler! (look at the picture) This leveler is my favourite accessory because the bubble sits on the center at exactly 6,5 angle!!!

On one hand I understand this confusion. Here in Europe, every Funhouse and Addams family (and possibly others too) I have seen, have these black square bubble levelers, whereas american playfields don't have them (mystery?)

P.S.: If someone knows where I can buy such a leveler please p.m.

You can glue a circle level to a 6.5 degree plastic wedge and you are all set. Here 4 for $6

Thank you for that link, I actually learned that these are called "bull eye" levels! Too bad I can't find a 6,5 degree ready one... I'll probably make a wedge
