Wife is starting to tell me not to get it cause of the hell theme. Anyone else have these kind of issues?
I don't look at it like a gateway to hell. Just a spoof. What's your opinion? Theme preventing you from owning?
Curious if some of you haven't bought because of the theme.

#2 9 years ago

I have a 10, 7, and 3 year old. They call Helen the 'devil lady.' No issues, but if you're sensitive to that kind of stuff, I'd think twice. I don't think it's a big deal.

#3 9 years ago

I won't get it because of the hell and devil themes

Just tell the wife that it's better the kids grow up liking AC/DC than Rap.

I got it because of the hell and devil themes. My 5 year old understands the difference between theme & real life. It's all in the way it's represented.

#6 9 years ago

you can always get the tamer "Luci" version

LoL. Good one! Coming from the guy w the Marilyn Manson picture.

I have a 12,11,& 8 year old it wasn't an issue for us. But they understand the difference between Heaven & Hell & good fast flowing pinball w killer jams!

Nah.

#9 9 years ago

Just educate them on HELL and throw them a Bible... AC/DC is very mild compared to what is in the Bible!

#10 9 years ago

Maybe the Luci or Helen translite are too much for the wee ones but a regular premium model is fine. They will do the greatest toddler dances to AC/DC songs and hopefully it develops a desire to listen to real music with instruments and not the crap that's being made today.

#11 9 years ago

I have a 4 year old who likes this pin the most. When he wants to play pinball he says "I want to play Rock and Roll." I don't think he understands any other part of the theme except the music and lightshow. And yeah, watching him dance is funny as hell.

#12 9 years ago

As a satanist I find it not evil enough.

#13 9 years ago

If your wife says no then don't get it. Keep her happy.

#14 9 years ago

I want an ACDC and every week I show my wife a picture of Luci and say "I think this would be ok in the basement. We used to have EATPM which I think was much worse. What do you think?" Her answer is always the same "No"

I originally was frightened to show my wife the Luci version but to my surprise she said Hell yeah!!! Got a keeper...I'm tellin' U!!!!

#16 9 years ago

Tell the wife that AC/DC is less evil than the 9 foot bronze Baphomet that is being erected at the Oklahoma Courthouse, next to a statue of the 10 Commandments.

You'll have to make the call, but three pieces of advice:

Church Lady might say, "mmmh ...their image promotes underage sex, and having sex is not good. ACDC is also about drugs, and impressionable minds will be damaged by drug use . ACDC is mostly about rock-n-roll, and that kind of music leads kids down the wrong path. Don't do it. You'll be sorry if you do and will assuredly be struck by lightning"!

MAGIC8BALL indicates "NO. What could possibly go wrong?"

Pinsider X, ....... "He11 Yeah"!

#18 9 years ago

I've got young kids and it's not a problem. I don't see a problem with the premium version. Everyone that comes by loves playing ACDC. I haven't received any negative comments from neighbors or friends. They fight over playing the game.

#19 9 years ago

Sounds like the same reasons our parents didn't want us listening to their music in the first place...and look how we all turned out...

#20 9 years ago

Parents have a much greater influence over their children's lives than any music, books, games or pinball machines. If that is not the case then there is something amiss with the family dynamic. Although, parents is plural and as someone else noted a happy wife make for a happy life.

If songs about hell are your issue you could always change the songs to ones you approve of using the code editor available on this site. Also you could add a headphone jack from pinovators (greatest mod ever!!) so only you hear what is playing. If the whole art package is your issue you might need to look elsewhere. Here is my story with this awesome machine:

I have a young daughter that points out EVERY bad word I say and in each movie, tv show or song she hears. However, I have tried teaching her that we can't control what the artist do with their lyrics or what is written for actors to say. Now that we've had the machine for two+ years she has turned into a big fan of their music, as well as of all classic rock. I now have a cool bond with her as she loves to listen to old rock and roll and now will text me if she is away from me and a good old song comes on. She is now 12. I just got a text from her last week that Golden Earing's Twilight Zone was on which I thought was so cool. I don't know that I would have this bond with her, that I don't have with my older daughter, if not for this machine. Kind of ironic that a machine with lyrics like AC/DC's has given me such a great gift.

Personally I totally get this. Don't understand why they opted to include Devil crap on this. I have been a big fan of AC/DC for probably 30 years.. I never considered them slightly satanic. It really is kind of upsetting as I probably could get it in my house if it only had a rock theme. I will never get approval for a devil themed pinball in my house as long as I am married.

#23 9 years ago

I don't feel it is a devil themed pin. It is an AC/DC theme. Really the only devil reference is the use of the little red devilish type horns made popular by Angus as he wears them in concert. On the premium the voice over says welcome to Hell when you get to the lower playfield. The rest of the machine is all about the individual songs.

#24 9 years ago

If you've really been a big fan for 30 years you should understand the origin of the "devil crap". It hasn't exactly been subtle, they stick giant horns on a train! It's just iconography.

To each their own. Hell is a made up word about an imaginary place and it can't hurt you on your pinball. If they were like sacrificing animals or something then sure, I could get not supporting that. But it's all an image for fun. No more real than the Martians in AFM.

NM, Aurich beat me to it.

#26 9 years ago

AC/DC and KISS aren't satanic????????????? Just kidding. I guess from a non fan they could only see the bad things that mean nothing. Keep rockin' everybody..................

#27 9 years ago

Believe me I don't care one way or another. If you are married for any length of time you know that some battles can not be won. I am a huge metal fan and know that ACDC is not in the same league (satanically) at all to some of the stuff I listen to. If I went with the pro version I would have to stare at Angus face and I don't really want to. The Luci is nice but that has two strikes against it in my house....I like the ACDC theme is good but have issues with the graphics on all ACDC versions.

#28 9 years ago

I had a guy that thought breakshot was too risqué to have around his kids.

I'm in the planning stages to re-theme a LOTR to a Steel Panther. The ring in back will either be a Gloryhole or a big vagina. Was going to add flaps kinda like Fire's top middle ramp.
If you haven't checked out their new album you should, assuming you're can handle tongue in cheek humor and fun lyrics.

#29 9 years ago

So I guess some people might believe that Bon Scott is burning in Hell ?

#30 9 years ago

If you have to ask,,,,,

#31 9 years ago

She told me to cum but I was already there.

NO

If the kids do not play get pinnivators and own a great game.

Get a new wife................

You're a big fan and you've never heard Hell's Bells, Highway to Hell, or Hell ain't a bad place to be?

No Sabbath pin for you!

These comment are very original.

Why yes thanks I will take your suggestion and get a new wife.

Also no - I have never heard those songs ever.

Believe me I have all the steel panther albums/every Sabbath and have been listening to them for longer than you. Great stuff. But no I don't listen to them around my wife or kids.

I have faith in humanity again that there are other Steel Panther fans out there

Kids should ONLY play AC/DC pinball.

#39 9 years ago

The band uses rebellious themes to attract the youth during their teens and early life. It sells records.

They are curious and are attracted to that stuff because it is generally forbidden.

People who buy ACDC are attracted to the hell theme.

If she told you to cum, that would be dirty.......

Parenting is a tag team effort. While it probably has no impact on the kids either way, if it makes your wife feel better then it's probably a win. The box with flashy lights that says "hell" a few times must be sacrificed to make room for the high-speed internet connection granting unsupervised and unrestricted access to petabytes of hard core porn.

#49 9 years ago

My wife has no say in what pins I buy. The only one she's said something about is my all time theme Metallica. But only because she heard it says"fry that mother f'r". I told here it won't be played while our 5 year old is around & she was OK. I'm going to guess that pin will be the only one my daughter will want some day

The people who believe in it have no idea who Bon Scott was.
