Go into diagnostics and find cannon motor. Make sure coils are on. Allow cannon to swing out and shut the game off so the cannon is locked in an outward position. Take a screwdriver and a pair of needle nose and unscrew. Once they get started should come right out. I think I only did one side as the bayonet base can swivel out and you can easily replace the bulb. Put it back together and turn on the game.

Put a 5 sided LED flasher in there when you replace it. Yes, it's a PITA to replace that one.

Yeah not easy but take your time and your be ok wish I'd replaced mine with a led flasher will next time.

In total agreement, it is a bugger to replace that one. An LED is definitely the way to go, so hopefully you won't have to do it again.

A tip I will give is make sure you put everything back together exactly as it was. I accidentally rotated the holder 180° when I did it, which was a mistake as the metal of the leg that screws into the plastic ramp which is normally at the top was now at the bottom. This touched some contacts next to the cannon which caused it to swing out, move back and... not stop. Cue terrible grinding of plastic as the cannon tried to essentially plough through the ramp. I could not turn the machine off quick enough!

So I had to undo about an hour's work and do it properly this time. Thankfully no damage was done.
