Quoted from 85vett:

Is it really? I very much prefer to integrated insert. I can't think of any time I played a Congo or CFTBL and thought it was great it was a removable insert as the ball caught an edge and moved. I've yet to see anyone have issues with their AC/DC insert excluding the early on cloudy windows as well so it's not like that is a problem.
An insert of that size not being built into the PF is not what I personally consider an improvement. I may be in the minority though as I seem to be more often than not these days on pinside.

It does have advantages where if it gets scratched or blemished, it can be easily replaced. But no seam of the original is also nice. If they had done it in the first place, cloudy windows would not have been such an issue. Maybe this is why Stern switched, to avoid any future problems if the window clouded or ghosted.

It these are on the line, I am surprised Stern hasn't posted anything on their facebook. They need to promote the VE better than they have. Even a minor code update to tweak/fix a few things would get people excited for the title again.

Quoted from GorillaBiscuits:

Sure. I didn't go for SW premium because I was quoted $7300, so even though I'm the world's biggest SW nerd I went for the pro. I was able to get my AC/DC from the same distro I always use for NIB Stern's for a little less than $6900 shipped. Total no brainer in my book. I don't know if that's a repeat customer hookup, but Stern has a minimum price set in stone so I'm sure you can get the same if you call around.

But, add in the price of a colordmd for ACDC... It's not necessary of course, but probably the #1 mod to certainly have.

Quoted from luvthatapex2:

it is absolutely bizarre how the first photos of a game are released from a distributor and there is nothing on Sterns own website for the game. Its not even in the current game list on the main page. No mention of it at all on their Facebook. Wow.

You missed it then because it is there on the website.

Did you click on the acdc game link? It's from 2012 and says sold out with old pictures. If I didn't know the game was getting remade i would think I missed my chance years ago.

Yes, I did and I also saw that. At least it's on the page though

Quoted from J85M:

Fact they haven't got this up to date isn't surprising but it's amateurish at best, like you said if you weren't to know any better you would think the boat has already sailed on the re-release and they are already sold out, cmon Stern this is basic marketing/advertisement on your own website

The Stern website is terrible and slow. There's no real useful information on there except for code updates when released.

Quoted from Jimmyd044:

The removable window is a great idea but it should have been engineered so the screws attached to the plastic on the bottom of the playfield. This would have provided a much cleaner look.

Two things:

1: It's easier to remove from the top to get at the lower playfield for cleaning.
2: Mounted from the bottom there could be clearance issues with the mini playfield. It wasn't originally designed like this.

The thick black outline hides the wooden edge the window sits on. Nobody is used to seeing that so it does stick out like a sore thumb at first.
