Quoted from cooked71:

Why you original ACDC Pre owners even care about all of this is beyond me.

I don't. I've been playing it for 5 years already, my playfield window is still crystal clear, and my game has AC/DC's drummer on it. All good over here!

Quoted from Frax:

Point is....it still doesn't matter. Wood is wood is wood. It'll get flat at some point,

If it's one of Stern's soft wood games that crater and look like soft clay, no, they won't get flat at some point. Those games will look shitty forever. They're using different playfield manufacturers. You may get a Stern that "dimples normal"...those games look good and will look good in the future...but if you get a "clayfield", you're boned. You need to see one of these playfields in person before you declare they'll look good in the future. They're bumpy and wavy and lumpy...just terrible. Zero chance they'll smooth out.

Quoted from PtownPin:

I'm not doubting you felt that way, but its completely illogical...I've played sever "originals", and then the vaults, and they ALL seem the same to me. That being said all games play a little different. Especially one that you've spent hours customizing to your liking...

I had IM original & now have IM Vault. I don't notice any difference in gameplay...but the metallic cabinet decals are phenomenal. I replaced the Stern repro figures w/ original Hasbro toys.

I had Spider-Man original and have played the Vault edition...felt exactly the same to me. I like the original more on that one as I love the movie implementation & hate the voices on the VE.

Quoted from flynnibus:

It's one of the commonly cited examples of "horrible art, but no one cares... because the game is fun" - proving greatness is an ensemble- not the best of the best mashup.

It really isn't horrible. The Premium and LE's always looked nice in person. The Angus face Pro got flack because it looked like a decal covering up a missing feature, and wasn't cohesive with the rest of the art package. The Premium, while Photoshop and not hand drawn, is still absolutely cohesive, absolutely represents the theme well, and I don't find it offensive to my eyes in any way. I find it far more pleasing than Ritchie's other truly horrible looking Photoshop games - WPT, Elvis, 24, GOT ...all visual stinkers.
