I had to remove mine a number of times to clean off the static dust that accumulated on the bottom of the window. Also removed it to install frosted red bulbs, and new super bands on the flippers. It came off very easy, but I am more than thrilled that I can get a new machine since I sold it awhile ago.

Ha, I doubt it costs more, they wouldn't be making them if there wasn't a cash grab available. Curious how that removable cover is for the lower playfield.

In picture below, Orange wire goes to the tip of bulb, Black to the case-barrel. This is the same for all other flashers on my game-orange wire to tip, Black to case-barrel.

Polarity only matters with certain types of bulbs. Some flashers won't work if they are wired backwards, others work either way.
