Stern must have their calendar set on "April 1st", today...
Seriously though,
I really feel bad for the people who were anticipating this machine and saving their $$$, to be a great tribute/masterpiece to all things 'AC/DC'.
Now that I have seen this, I am very cool with Stern NOT doing an 'Iron Maiden' (<---The BAND) pin!
I don't think I could handle it...
Quoted from pinball_customs:I think you guys are forgetting .. this is the Pro model.
Does it really matter at this point in time???
It would take a completely different game/PF layout, to sway everyone back!
Gomez must have got some stuff past the bean counters.
I must agree!
He probably depleted some of 2012's budget too!
Now TRS isn't looking too shabby in hindsight.
Quoted from Pinballdad:Just a (mine) subjective opinion of course
Subject away PBD!!!
It is the only way for them (Stern) to learn their lesson and make good on the next one from the input given here!
I bet this thread hits 200 by tomorrow morning!
Quoted from SealClubber:I don't think Ritchie had anything to do with the artwork.
It doesn't matter...
If I was designing a pin and my name was going on it (or slightly under the apron... ), I would sure as hell oversee every aspect of said machine!!! "From inception, to conception, to completion!" would be my "Pin-Designing" motto...
Hell, I would even load the first one onto the truck!
Passing Blame = Serious "Weaksauce"...
Borg... You are up next!
Don't let U$ down!!!
Quoted from txstargazer3:I cannot agree that it is OK to put out an ugly pin just because it is "only" the pro model.
+1...
I wasn't even interested in buying this pin and I am somehow extremely annoyed!!!
If I had a LE on order somewhere, I'd sure as hell ask for my money back!
Well, I guess the bright side of this whole mess is the fact that, at least it will be a quick albeit "painful" death...
Hopefully Stern will return stronger- and learn this simple lesson... To NOT take us for granted and to actually bring a quality- "highly polished", completed product out (on all models!) that we can honestly stand behind too... With our $$$!!! (<---- MOST important...)
Quoted from jonnyo:Can the cannon have about fifty more rivets, screws and brackets on it?
No... It would cost more!
I agree though. Whatever happened to making molds for things? The TNT detonator has a ridiculous amount of screws in it. You'd think the dynamite plunger was some misunderstood "Punk-Rocker", who's parents didn't love it very much...
Well, I was sorta close on the 200 thread before lunch...
I will be the first to formally apologize to Gary and crew for the earlier criticism.
I was just venting my frustration with Stern's current business model... I mean no harm at the end of the day. At the same time, you have to be prepared to take some slings and arrows when you release a game that looks like well... AC/DC!!!
My point is,
With JJP dropping WOZ soon and TF still sitting in the warehouse, why would you want to send AC/DC out into the world looking like an unfinished, rushed product?!? Have you ever considered having pinball related focus groups that come in and give feedback for the next Stern product? I'm thinking you don't... If you had invited me into one of those sessions, I would have given you an honest review of what was in front of me. I would have also stressed the importance of keeping things simple. Make two machines- one for the home market and one for the ops. Keep the flow and feel of the machines the same but give the hardcore player what they want in a pin. Deeper rules, more durability (better parts, clearcoat) and a premium trim/finish package that makes jaws drop!
Easier said than done???
I don't think so- and I'd bet my paycheck it would sell you more pins!
Again, sorry about the harsh words earlier.

Quoted from pinmike:Selma
*sigh*
Maybe if you can get her name right, I can dig one up for you...
Quoted from jarjarisgod:Not sure why Stern should be treated with kid gloves.
It wasn't my intent to let them off the hook for what they came up with on the "Pro" version of AC/DC... My apology was for my bad behavior directed towards Gary and Steve earlier in the thread. I still remember the good games Stern has given us during the pinball "void" (Heck, I own three of them!) and appreciate their "intentions" at least, to give us three of four new licensed titles a year.
With that said, I never felt that I was losing out on a birthday present or even cared if it was a "re-hashed" machine.
Most PF layouts are loosely based on earlier games anyway, no shocker there!!!
There is just so much you can stuff onto a PF that actually works- and that has FLOW to boot.
I get that...
My gripe is that they just did the bare minimum for the Pro, rushed it out- and still managed to charge SM pricing.
I am just hoping the LE really brings it and proves us wrong, because Stern is really walking on thin ice with this current offering... It's only a matter of time before the ice cracks underneath their feet and they quickly realize there is nobody left on the bank to risk their $$$ to go bring their hypothermic ass back to shore!
And to honda...
Yes, I love crack!!!
If you have some, can you deliver it to me in big yellow bricks?!?
I need a WOZ fix baaaad...
AC/DC theme blows WOZ out of the water hands down.
I felt the same way when I heard that there was a Gilligan's Island machine... Until I played it.
The LE sounds promising. Almost completely different in fact! Why they didn't release it first, is wayyy beyond me... Backlash later is always better than sooner IMO.
I was just baffled by all the AC/DC hatters that are on the WOZ band wagon.
That is because I am a MAIDEN fan Honda!!!
Just like Lindsay!
