I just bought a Metallica 3 days ago, and I already have the AC/DC Pro VE... and yet I REALLY want this.
Quoted from mnpinball:She's 170 tops. 36-24-36 you can say she's got it all. #Luci
Wrong! From the song lyrics:
"Weighin' in at nineteen stone"
19 stone = 266 pounds. She's a whole lotta woman. A whole lotta woman. A whole lotta Rosie.
Quoted from Reality_Studio:Anyone know if Colordmd will work in this? I assume so since it's just a re-issue, but double checking in case they change connectors or bolt patterns on VE's.
I just put a colorDMD into the Pro Vault last night. It has the new metal backbox, and it fits perfect. Make sure you get the standoff and shield for it.
The shield in the game is red, so you need the clear one. The standoffs are because of the way the backbox is, you need them.
Quoted from cooked71:What is wierd though, is why Stern didn't just make Luci VE from the start. Why do the regular VE and then Luci? Or if they were planning to all along, why not offer both from the start?
As a buyer of the Pro VE when it was released, I think it was shortsighted. There is no question that if Luci was available NIB, I would have instantly dumped the extra money out of my wallet to pay for it.
To buy it now, I'd have to sell my Pro VE, take the loss on it, and the hassle, to then buy the new one. Kind of too much bother. So they left the money on the table.
Quoted from TimeBandit:As much as I only want to buy SAM machines, I think I've had them all. As Spike continues to flounder maybe the chances of White Star VEs are growing and growing.
That is still a big issue for me. I just don’t want to buy another SPIKE game. When the Pro VE came out, it was my first question, what’s the board set in it. I wouldn’t have bought it if the answer was SPIKE. SPIKE will continue to flounder because I won’t buy it. I think that’s a massive problem for Stern going forward.
Quoted from Shapeshifter:I don't get Stern sometimes.
There have been rumors of a final code update for years.
Surely even a small code update now would sell more VE's?
Then I’ll add my suggestion here, just in case...
I would LOVE if the bonus screens after each ball displayed what the song jackpot was at. Just an F U at the drain showing you just missed 40 million points, and if I have doubles scoring going, show my 80 million points missed. It will make me even madder.
F' it. I'm in. I've been very happy with my Pro VE. But while playing a friends Premium the lights swayed me to switch it up. So I'll sell the Pro VE and upgrade to Luci VE.
Quoted from Rob_G:Did the code update help sway your decision?
Rob
Yes, being shown the new Back In Black rules at a friends house. But it was a few things. I really like the multi colored inserts. And (dumb), I had an issue with the backbox decals on my 2016 Metallica... and Stern stepped up and replaced them (Thanks Chas). I’ve enjoyed my Pro VE with no regrets. Luci just pushed me over the edge.
Quoted from flipnout1:First one unboxed - LUCI Vault at Louisville Arcade Expo!
Hot!!!
Quoted from jrio101:Anyone get a call from their distributor yet on luci?
Silencio. However I was a pretty late order, so no shock. They will let me know when it is coming.
Quoted from jrio101:The window on mine is also low. I will shim later today with some washers.
Well this is kind of a bummer. Sounds like they are not really paying attention to that at the factory. I'm hoping mine comes in correct.
Quoted from PinMonk:They're saving more than a cent per BULB thought. The bayonet bases are metal, the wedges are plastic, which is much cheaper.
I agree, but it's penny wise and pound foolish. Every owner gets that annoying "Ugh" as the bulbs fall out. On my Pro VE all 3 lightning bolt flashers jumped out of the sockets within games of getting it. In high vibration areas, they should be secured. It's not like they just started building games and didn't know that.
Crazy, but I'm probably asking to increase costs by $20. Proper lights in some places, level windows in the middle of the playfields. Crazy, I know.
Quoted from rennervision:I took a better picture to describe what I was saying. You can see how switch #62 is triggered once this blade-looking thing passes through the optical beam.
And actually - right after I took that picture the cannon started working correctly. I can now fire at any point when it's operational. The switch test is still the same - cannon barely moves left to trigger #62. But based on these photos I'm sure that's the correct behavior. So beats me why it wasn't working. Or why it works now.
Well on my Pro Vault, there was an LED mounted in a bad spot that shone into the opto. So there were times when that Lane was lit, the cannon wouldn't fire. The fix was to move the LED. It's possible this is a similar thing.
It was crazy figuring it out, because it only happened when a certain lamp was lit.
