My game is a bit over a year old and the left flipper started occasionally sticking in the up position. Opened it up tonight to find brass dust under the flipper mechs and the coil stops torn up. The slug that the plunger hits is completely loose on both left and right flippers. There is no more copper or brass washer left between the slug and the metal of the bracket. That is why the flipper is sticking because the magnetic path is no longer broken by the washer.

This is after a few thousand total games so I have to think those stops were not made very well. I don't have any replacement Stern parts on hand but I do have some new Williams coil stops and they look very close. Does anyone know if they Williams coil stops will work in a Stern game? If not, what is the problem they would cause?

Well the height was the same, the bolt hole spacing was the same, the slug length was the same - but the bent part of the bracket (where the holes are) is longer so it is not going to work. Bummer since I have a bunch of Williams coil stops....

I never had this happen on a Williams coil stop. I guess the Stern ones are less expensive to make so they pass the savings on to us. Wait - WTF, these Stern coils stops are like 3 times the price of the Williams coil stops.... what a rip off!
