This is a common problem with the stern coil stops. I have 4 newer stern games and have had to change all of them. The sterns are riveted on a the old Williams ones look welded/soldered on. The sterns just wear out much faster. I usually just change the coil stop and the plunger/slew combo and call it good, just like new.
