Sd-Images you can dowload from here.
Sd-images contain the whole system.
Game-Code spk files only changes that will update the system.

Is it best to use browser with sd images rather than just a code update/usb stick?

What’s the benefit? Sorry, just joined the club! Ha ha.

Have you tried v7.53 ?

7.53 doesn't work with JP 1.02 either unfortunately
But thanks for your PB update and effort anyway!

It works with the LE version here. Which one are you trying to open ?

For Spike games, it's better to open SD images.
See the question "How do I open a Spike firmware" in the FAQ for more informations about this.

so Pinbrowser is back in the game for 1.02 JP? Hell yes.

Has anyone used this to change videos on games like GOTG, JP, DEADPOOL?

I tried to open the Pro one, and I failed to
But thanks for letting me know that it works with LE one! I'll download it
Have a nice day,

I can confirm that it works with the LE version but not with the PRO one.
That's weird because it worked almost immediately with the LE version.
I don't know what (yet) but it seems that something has been implemented to defeat my entropy analyser !

#4011 3 years ago

while i'd love to try it, even though it was opening, it never worked properly for 1.01 or 1.02...it actually broke the code somehow on the upload/conversion for the videos I tried and the game stopped working correctly even though my bitrates and frames were almost exact...the missle launch sequence would fail to play as well as the hit sequence, then the rest of the game would glitch out until reset of the machine...I think they put some sort of identifier in the code that regardless of conversion, if the new vids don't match verbatim, the code sequencing gets fouled up...just my experience and 3 days of sleepless trying and trying just led me to putting aclean image up and calling it quits..I really appreciate the effort though and the work you have done, I wish Stern would work with you instead of against you

#4012 3 years ago

I've noticed that the sound volume seems very low when importing a new sound file into the Turtles game. It seems loud enough when you play it in the Pinball Browser, but in the game it's very muted. I've increased the sound to 200%, and not much change. Jacking it up any higher than 200%, and you start getting distortion.

I have the same problem wether I make the shortened clip myself, or if I edited the clip directly in Pinball Browser.

A couple other people I've been talking to regarding Turtles have had the same issue.

One thing that not always everything is in the code update file. It could be you want to change a sound that it will be as image but not in the code update. Another seems to be that modifying the sd image is easier, faster and more reliable

PB v7.54 now works with JP1.02 Pro and LE.

But not with Stranger Things .97

At least Jurassic Park is basically done, so hopefully you don't have to mess with that any longer.

so here's a way for Stern to keep updating code: PB browser updates to newest version...Stern releases new code! Genius

Congrats for figuring that out!
I also had thought of Stern releasing new codes on purpose every time PB gets updated

I didn't see there was a new version for Stranger Things...
But, it's the same thing as JP : it works with the LE version

I'm still having trouble getting any videos to work correctly..never had a problem on my Star Wars or versions of JP prior to version 1.01

Here's what I'm going to try (let me know if this isn't correct):

Clean Image download from Stern
Image Created to SD with Etcher
Image opened from SD with Pinball Browser
Image Saved to SD with Disk Image Write under SmartDMD tab in PB Browser

I was building the new image using Etcher again previously from the saved / modified image I edited

So fingers crossed...again

#4024 3 years ago

OKAY!!! I'M AN IDIOT

I have to offer my sincere apologies to oga83. I have made a bunch of posts on here that my videos weren't working etc...

Probably wasting his time no less..

It was my fault all along.

I was saving the edited image to my SD after editing it in pinball browser USING Etcher

ALL I HAD TO DO WAS USE THE DISK WRITE FUNCTION BUILT INTO PINBALL BROWSER IN THE FIRST PLACE!!! Holy crap duh moment realization for me

Now everything works perfectly including the imports of videos etc...

Many thanks oga83 and sorry if I wasted your time with any blathering

I feel smarter and dumber right now all at the same time!!!

#4025 3 years ago

I wish someone could write up a "how to" on swapping videos for Spike 2 games. I've still never been able to import a video on my BM66 correctly. The video plays too slow in PB and when loaded on the game's SD card the machine wont boot. No matter how close I get the duration and framerates it's the same issue.

I’m gonna download PB soon and would appreciate a YouTube tutorial that goes over the basics to save me time and effort. I’ve watched part of the one vid on YouTube and it was okay.

A write up works too.

I do it like this:

1. Export the original video using pb browser, save for safe keeping
2. Open video in editor, I use Powerdirector but you can use any video editing you like
3. Get the correct data from the content (bitrate, length, framerate, resolution)
4. Edit video and then export/produce new video in best format H.264 possible
4.a. Option to export audio here also adjusting for audio in source file. I make the audio files first and try to make the video match the audio, meshes better that way in the finished product
5. Open video in Handbrake and compile new output that as closely mirrors original video length and frames, but the import function in PB browser should fix that anyways
6. Load PB Browser and use existing Image from SD in machine (make sure to copy and save image first) or use new image from Stern burned to SD card using Etcher
7. Load Image in PB Browser
8. Import Scene bookmarks for videos
9. Import Videos and Sound files
10. Write image to SD using PB browser (THIS IS IMPORTANT) - don't use Etcher to make a new image from this step. Use the built in Write image to burn the new edited image to your SD
11. Load back in machine, play, test, enjoy!

No worries !
I didn't have time to investigate on this anyway.
Anyway, it should work with Etcher.

I still do for converting the raw image from Stern to SD, just something in the final step after edits, can't put my finger on it but it seems it was messing with the code for the specific changes I made, your mileage may vary. Anyways, just played about 10 games using the Write image from Pinball browser and all is working super..

Just throwing this out there in case other people run into a similar issue like I had, before you spend 3 days running in circles

Pinball Browser v7.55 should work with all existing firmwares

#4033 3 years ago
Quoted from cleland:

Without Pinball Browser, a lot of Stern games would be Sh!t. So thankful for oga83 's hard work.

I have sold a fair amount of games due to customer awareness of your alternate soundtracks. Thank you both cleland and oga83!

Premium and LE are technically same softwares, so it should work with JP Premium

Updated to the new version so I can mess with newer code on the games at my local collective. Working great on JP and Maiden. I'm running this with Crossover on a Mac. Anyone know how to install FFMpeg with this setup?

I too am a Mac user and using Crossover. Just make sure you download the Windows 64bit version of FFMpeg and place the three .exe files in the root of Pinball Browser.

Wherever your pinball browser .exe file is sitting. Probably wherever you downloaded it to

When you unzip Pinball Browser you will get the folder with the components. I keep mine on my Mac Desktop, and launch it from there. Notice the 3 FFMpeg .exe files. When you download the 64 bit version, unzip and just place those three files in the same folder as Pinball Browser.

TMNT 1.11 is working.
The soundscripts are again mixed up again. I tried to remap the bookmarks for 1.11 as good as possible. The mapping script from Oga83 in Spike menu does most of the work, the rest is using this info to remap the bookmarks.

i will soon get an TMNT let's see what can be done

#4045 3 years ago

Hi Pinheads

I hope somebody wants to help me here. I know a bit how the PB works, changed sounds on my gotg and jp2. What i dont understand is how it works with SAM and a Pin2DMD for a shrek. I found some files ond vp universe (.pal & .diff). I downloaded the original shrek ROM but have no idea what to do with the .diff. I also dont understand with the connections, is it possible to use the pin2dmd with no special cable? Has maybe somebody got the colorpatch and can explain step by step?
Thx

Pinball Browser v7.56 is available here

- The "Compare Firmware" function is now able to convert the sound bookmarks from an old firmware version to a new one. Please note that the sound bookmarks have to be synchronized in both firmwares before using this function (use the Sync button for that).
- A new macro has been added : "TranslateId". It almost works as "ShiftId" except that it does not shift the ids following the ones defined by ShiftId.
ShiftId is well suited for firmwares where a few sounds have been added in the middle ("ShiftId,1,0x100,0x101" will shift all ids 1 to the right starting at 0x100. No need to use ShiftId for all the sounds following 0x100) but it is more difficult to use for a firmware where all the sounds are shuffled compared to a previous version.
"TranslateId,1,OldId,NewId" only relocates sound "OldId" to the new position "NewId". No other sounds are impacted.
This macro is now used by the "Compare Firmware" function. It was not working correctly with ShiftId.
Thanks to timlah79 for pointing this out.

Is it just me or does pinbrowser not see more than two videos for JP2 stern? I was hoping to replace videos....

See here.

#4049 3 years ago

thanks - now I can see everything.

Here's the problem though - all of the videos I've tried as replacements, they don't work in game. pinbrowser accepts, plays them but when I play the code in JP, the video I replaced is just not there. It's really just nothing.

Is there something special I need to do b/c these are scenes to make this work? For example, I tried to replace MB TREX loop 1 with another video and it didn't work in game.

Any one have luck replacing JP videos? I've had tremendous success with tmnt.

I had that issue using etcher to burn the final copy on the SD... What worked for me was using the internal write to SD function of Pinball browser
