Well, the tennis game was just a proof of concept and was not really playable... (http://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/acdc-program-modification-proof-of-concept-1)

So, here is a breakout game !
On AC/DC, it is ran each time the ball falls into the knocker of your choice (jukebox, bell, cannon).
[EDIT]A 'knocker' is a solenoid that will lock/eject the ball (this is the way Stern calls them; some solenoids are not knockers : left and right flippers, slingshots, ...)

For the video, I choosed the top knocker (aka jukebox).

It is still very basic, but it now interacts with the pinball :
- the game will start for 30s when the ball falls into the knocker
- it plays some callouts (welcome sound, 10s countdown, bounce sounds, ...)
- the current player will earn points (10000 for a brick hit, 50000 for a brick destruction, ...), but will loose 50000 when he misses the ball...
- some bricks are stronger than others, and several hits are required to detroy them

To install it, rename breakout100.txt to breakout100.hex, use Pinball-browser v2.01, and go to the 'advanced' tab : you can select the knocker that you want
It should work on several games : X-Men, MTLE, ...

Has anyone an idea for a similar software mod ?

#6 10 years ago

Left to right tetris?

A crude drawing program?

Space invaders?

#7 10 years ago

Can you code it to a selection of flipper button presses while in attract mode?
Not sure I would want it starting on every Jukebox hit.
It looks awesome though. Just would not want it slowing down gameplay.

You should make the bricks in the game to spell out AC/DC (instead of just the standard rectangular breakout wall; or use the standard brick wall with the AC/DC logo on it and the letters require two/three hits to clear (clearing all letters from AC/DC will be a mini-super jackpot))! The mod is cool and I hope you keep working on it

How about Gutiar Hero? 2 Bars going from left to right, you press coresponding flipper when they are in the "in-zone" It would fit the theme better.

How about similar to STTNG flying shuttle in caverns your riding the train to hell

I really do appreciate easter eggs but..you have not lived until you have dropped 7k to play a first generation Atari game..

That's basically the video mode on Stern's Elvis.

Dang, all that Elvis that I've played and I haven't seen it yet - but at least it fits the theme o_O

Seriously thought - this is kick @$$!
I'm kinda reluctant to mess with my tron - but to realize that someone can make video modes representing the original tron (IE Light Cycles) - it's unleashing the possiblities

Can you increase a multiplier or just score?

(Perhaps a post on what you can and cannot do is a good idea). This will open up a ton of possibilities, well done!

If you could add modes in the games what about a daft punk multiball for tron pro

Thanks Oga83, love your work!

When attempting to load this patch with pinbrowser on xmen code I get the error "Cannot bind to menu: Entry point not found for service menu."

I then receive confirmation that "Patch has been applied!" however I then cannot qualify the breakout game when on my machine.

I have selected and attempted both bind to service menu and to knocker.

Any suggestions on a solution?

Thanks in advance

On which game ?
The messages mean that the patch was correctly applied but cannot be attached to the game (thus useless)
Do you still have an error message when you only choose "Bind patch to knocker ?"
