I think that’s what the flag feature is for. Enough flags and the rating is ignored.

    Quoted from rai:

Is it ignored or just not shown on the ratings page? I’m not clear about that.

It’s not factored into the rating calculation at all.

    Quoted from pinlink:

If I am looking for an honest review of a game, I just read caucasian2step's review. Seems like he has reviewed just about every game and his comments are very detailed. Maybe he should determine the Top 100

He’s also good at updating and dating the updates as well. Definitely great reviews.

    Quoted from TreyBo69:

I partly blame Stern. Like I gave a bad review to Deadpool when it first came out, but that’s because I legit thought it stunk. Then they actually finished coding the thing and now it’s one of my favorites of recent years. Batman 66 is an even more extreme example of this.
Video game reviews also really struggle with this. Games are never “done” and reviews are like historical snapshots of where the game was.

This is why I wait until a game is at 1.00 at least.

    Quoted from dung:

Disagree. Some games are complete and utter dumpster fires. Shaq attack has almost no redeeming features in it whatsoever. The art is terrible. The sounds are repetitive and awful. The layout is terrible. The rules are abysmal. If told I could chose between shaq attack and no pinball for the rest of my life, I'd go without.
The Beatles is almost as bad to me. It's nails on a chalkboard. It's a recycled layout where I'd rather play the original.

While I widely disagree on Beatles, neither of these games are a 4 or less. Pretty tough to be that bad.

Modern games I would give a 4 or less:

    Cosmic carnival
    Thunderbirds

    Quoted from dung:

Disagree, if something can be a 9-10, something has to be a 1-2 otherwise there is no point.

Of course. But a lot of the games that are dogs either didn’t see the light of day, or many haven’t played cause you never see them.

As far as games that are regularly seen and played, it’s rare I would rate something below a 5-6

Can we get a rating system for the threads based on the rating system?

    I give this one a 4

    Quoted from irobot:

Because... it had come out a year or two earlier and it was a popular movie. You think it would still top the list today? Is it really THAT good? The BEST movie ever?

    Absol-fucking-lutely

    Quoted from mystman12:

One big problem I just realized the current rating system has is people can rate games after playing them a few times at an arcade. Many review comments make it very clear that that they've probably played the game for less than hour total in their lifetime, but didn't enjoy it that much so it *must* be bad even though they haven't even taken the time to learn the rules, or maybe the example they played was just in poor shape.
When writing a review, users should be required to input am estimate of how many hours they've spent playing the game, and that stat should be shown alongside their review just like how they show whether or not the reviewer owns or owned the game. That stat could then be used to determine how much their review affects the overall score of the game.

Then they’ll just lie and put their ridiculous rating in anyway.

    Quoted from TheLaw:

And once again owning a machine does not add anything to the equation, in fact you probably get a less honest take from owners round these parts.

Owners should be the best to give reviews as long as they are completely honest about the game. They should know the most about it at least. But yeah, I’m sure some just want their games to be the highest rated games for some crazy reason.
