I’ve bought a fair number of Stern titles, new. Most are ok, but I have 2 machines, TWD and Ac/Dc Lucy, that no matter what I do, I can’t get to work properly. Hours on the phone with Stern, hiring 3 different operators to fix the machines. Sending new boards back and forth new cables back and forth, etc. These games have been broken for years now. They were already broken during their warrantee period.

So, I have 3 options.
1. Keep them, unplayed, and let them live in my head for a few more years.
2. Sell them for pennies on the $ as Lemons.
3. Run an extension cord out to a field on my farm and do a Stern Pinbal Youtube review with gasoline and matches.

I am extremely partial to #3 . I can’t in good conscience sell this game to another enthusiast.

Quoted from Shredso:

#4. Find a new tech. What's wrong with them? These are not oddball rare machines. I would think any decent tech could get you straightened out.

I have hired 3 of the best techs. Major operators. If we knew, or if Stern knew, what was wrong, we’d have it fixed by now.

Here. For example. This TWD has lights at the center of the playfield which remain lit. It has light on top that seem to function properly, and no lights at the bottom of the playfield.

Quoted from Dent00:

I guess I am just curious what these Stern technicians do on their day job, assuming that they cannot repair one of their own machines. That seems rather difficult to believe. Seems to me, that if my only job was to repair a particular type or brand of machines, I would know every detail of the machines and how to fix anything that went wrong with it by heart. Just my thoughts...

It’s wasn’t for a lack of trying. I literally exchanged 6 boards and cables individually with Stern.

Quoted from metallik:

Problem in the main wiring harness? IDC connector pinned incorrectly? Someone used a crossover cable instead of regular CAT-5 for board interconnect?
If the problem survived the SAM and light boards being swapped, it likely is in cabling somewhere.

I suspect you’re right. But I’ve replaced the entire harness.
