Quoted from o-din:So basically you start at 8 AM and leave at 3 in the afternoon, work no weekends or holidays, take most of the summer off and get other holiday breaks throughout the year. But spend some extra hours grading papers and planning lessons. At least that's the way it is in the USA. I understand the underpaid part, but great schedule if you can get it.
My mom was a grade school math teacher and she worked every day on her own time to grade papers, plan lessons, tutor kids, make decorations/bulletin boards for each season/month, make teaching aides, etc. Worst of all had to deal with pissy/ignorant kids and/or parents and power hunry principals etc. So yes they get weekends and summers off, and that seems like a great thing. But it's hard under appreciated under paid work the rest of the time. I wouldn't trade my 9-5 for it for anything.
