Do you know for sure it was because of this thread or is it supposition on your part?

Might be due to the GB leak to the forum as well today, who knows. Yes supposition on my part.

Was Jared the leak?

Highly doubt it.

Hope everyone is proud as Jared has Deactivated his pinside account.

I'm sorry but.... He was a fairly nice guy but as a Stern spokesperson he really hasn't done much other than to help produce more speculation around here. A bunch of teaser but I didn't see to much as an official spokesman speaking towards questions that are asked. Just the same tongue and cheek responses you get on FB.

There are a lot of companies that spend time on forums talking with their most enthusiastic customers as they are the ones that can really make a difference with a companies longevity. Heck, my company has a whole department for this. If Stern (or just Jared himself) decided to cut ties with Pinside I consider that their loss, not ours... If you wanted to know the info that was being shared here just call Stern or go to a show and ask the question. Same answers and info given there as what was being posted here.

#606 8 years ago

Looking forward to the new account; "Bakushan II"

#607 8 years ago

I thought Jared did an excellent job.

#608 8 years ago

Jared couldn't win. He posted fluff and everyone saw through it. He would have had to posts facts and be a liaison for Stern if he didn't want backlash.

Stern could use someone to come on here and post facts.

you guys are the absolute worst part of pinball in my opinion.
We have (or maybe more like "had") an opportunity to get info/feedback from the only real pinball company in existence.
No disrespect meant to JJP, Spooky, or Heighway -but currently Stern is by far the only producer of multiple titles each year.
We may not agree or appreciate how they do things all the time, but having Jared here at least opened the door to discussion, feedback, and most importantly: future opportunities for improved communication.
Jared did a great job in my opinion of explaining Sterns stance on things like the importance of deep code at time of release. Pinsiders hate not having complete code from the get-go. Stern feels that's it's more important to keep the factory lines working, and that in time, code is improved. It was suggested that if code is most important to you, as a buyer, then you can sit back and wait for games to be finished.
Pinsiders who didn't like that answer whined about being offended, being unappreciated.

So Stern can't win because a bunch of middle-aged internet tough-guys would rather buy up new releases and then complain about them, than to actually make rational purchases, like vault editions, or games that have had time to have completed code.

I know this post won't win me any popularity with any of you and I dont care. The truth is, you've helped reduce this website to useless posts with hateful commentary -with the exception being some extremely helpful repair threads thrown in.

Nice work fellas, you finally won.

Well said. Pinside is a horrible place for anyone making a pinball machine to hang out. It drives out people working for these companies like Jared and Alex and instead we are left with a bunch of threads from people that can't fix their machines or that want to cry cause prices are too high.

Stern is a good company. The tech support is great. I feel a lot of us know Stern could be a great company. This is why we vent. We want Stern to be great because we love pinball.

What about the buying public who bought their machines in good faith under the promise of an advertising blurb.

The product they received did not match what was advertised; if the model that you bought is popular then you might get code updates however if it is not then you are stuck with a substandard product.

All very well to keep the production line moving as long as you take care of the after sales side of the equation.

People are complaining because the after sales side of things are not up to scratch (Code updates etc).

For example Kiss Limited Edition (8,795) USD; then don't expect the consumers to accept a shoddy product/after sales service.

All very well for a company to use the internet to promote the product they are selling; however they should also listen to the customers who previously bought the product and have justified concerns.

That won't help. If you're honest and post the truth some people will appreciate it. Others will misunderstand. Others will willfully misunderstand. And they'll throw it back in your face and use it against you every opportunity.

I don't think we have to be happy sunshine all the time, but too many vendettas and trolling make the legit criticism all get lumped together.

#614 8 years ago

Stern has additional opportunities to direct and improve their public relations, if they choose to do so. Home market is not the entirety of production anyway, but certainly approaching 40% or more these days. Seems a bit narrow minded.

Nearly everything on PinSide is misinterpreted.

I guess we can let distributors and operators do the the talking, they listen to them more closely based on sales and "experience".

I recently was explaining the value of the SAM remote controller system for puposes of technical work, not just for ease of use, and the value to adopt this same PCB card to SPIKE systems. They never even considered it for this purpose for some reason. They listened.

There has already been discussion based on concerns with GB and commitment to the development of a "polished" product. Two years is an awfully long wait to fix something after release, if it sometimes ever happens.

Its been the same since the RGP days. Its the community.

Nevertheless,Stern creates the conditions, thereby opening itself to criticism.Good, bad or indifferent views, hasnt made an iota of difference in what Stern decides to do,and I imagine it never will.

Not everyone...
Generally, the older the collector (not necessarily physical age), the more time is spent evaluating. It is not always about the money but the build quality and software revisions when it comes out of the gate from ANY manufacturer.
Risk in pinball collecting is like any other hobby. You figure out who you can trust.

do you think that Stern will release updates for Christmas?
wwe, got,,,,,,

#618 8 years ago

They will release at least one update before or on Xmas I'd bet. Avengers just got its ColorDMD released so who knows. I'd be very surprised if any Avengers code update happens, but would be overjoyed for its owners if it does.

I can see the possibilities of a Kiss and/or GoT update though. Longshot to me would be a final Met update.

Will there be another Star Trek update or is it finished?

I'm with ya. I don't even know why Jared came here to post this PR fluff piece to get people harping about Stern code again. ...

This post was clearly just fluff, guys. It really said nothing.
...and then 600 posts followed.

Nice contributions ... why bump this thread if it is just "fluff"

Stern put themselves in that position. Gomez taking two action figures 5 months ago to say they are working on avengers.... It's laughable now at best because they still have a nothing to show Calling the last code update on WWE a code update is even funnier.

Avengers........assemble my code

Sorry, just had a spasm

New avengers code bump!

#631 8 years ago

by the looks of the readme, i'd say avengers is now done.
interested to hear what owner think of it after they play it.
I don't own one, but very happy to see the code completed.

#632 8 years ago

The funny thing about Stern is that I think a few years ago I posted a reply to a comment on their Facebook from a customer that had similar frustrations with unfinished code, my comment read plainly "Hey, Stern could hire me and I'd be glad to chip in [to finish code]." and I think I was subsequently blocked from their page. I can see their posts, but can't comment or anything. Hopefully the new mentality up there (and the big push behind their social media campaigns by Jared) has shifted things a bit. Not really even a complaint on my part, just a chuckle at the hair trigger.

Did Jared participate here? The only post I remember him in was one he started about code (I think??) but it was just basically a press release?

if the AV update tells us anything it is that he is better not here. Shit seems to get done now that he is not posting here

#646 8 years ago

Glad for Avengers owners, I just hope that other games are being worked on as well.

Stern is on fire with its production lineup, I hope they don't forget some games have bugs or incomplete code.
