More accurately, there MIGHT "be plenty of old school style pins to buy at much cheaper prices down the road".
Conversely, they could also be higher in value down the road.
Macro point: the only thing knowable about the future is it isn't knowable in advance.
MY personal opinion (FWIW):
The quintessential classics will always be coveted (even in the face of new advances in technology) because of their increasing rarity and overall greatness.
IE.--one-million dollar Hemi Mopars, $350,000 '65 Shelby G.T.-350s, etc...plenty of faster and far safer rides around in 2013 with far superior technology than '60s American Muscle...but those are the approximate current prices--some 40-50 years after their debut.
