So as Teek puts it, this is "Good forum discussion"? Can you please elaborate on your actual intention with this? I have my guesses, but instead of guessing at them I'd rather you pontificate on this addition to the discussion.

It is just a little humor .. Did you change the words and sing along ?

Oh, and almost forgot... For the original conversation, unless we know how many of those plays were paid and how it compares percentage-wise to the runner up, it really tells you nothing.

The only thing we can take from it is that the repairs are reasonable. But anyone trying to say this will make pins worth routing again, the op hasn't provided us with enough info to really make that call.

Quoted from scottc:

If the skate shop is open 12 hrs a day 7 days a week and the average game time was 6 minutes that would meean the pin would of been played NON-Stop the last nine weeks....WOW!
What are the hours for the skate shop?

The shop's open from 10am-10pm (usually much later if people are playing, which they often are), 7 days a week.

I really haven't tried the math myself, but it is almost always being played. Not sure about your guess on the 6min avg game time, but that sounds high to me..

I should also say that I may have had the machine Btwn 9-12 weeks, rather than the 9 I guessed when I started this topic. A lot of you guys know ive been pretty overwhelmed w another project, so the days are starting to feel the same, but Maybe Jack could remember better. But even if it was a few more weeks than I said, it further bolsters the pro-reliability argument.

How did the tree break off? It's made of rubber and screwed to the pop bumper. There's nothing to break?

The screws have come loose on all three of my trees, it has been suggested to use medium or mild loctite on those screws.

Can you comment on the upper playfield chipping at the edges? Are you seeing that on your game?

If the time of arrival matters:

And I would agree that 6 minutes per game is a high guess. That thing kicked my butt when I played it. I'm sure I had a game or two that long, but they seemed a lot shorter playing it. From the look of the rules so far it will be a bit like LOTR. A game that you MIGHT be able to do everything it will have to offer, but you won't do it all in one game unless you are crazy good.

#257 7 years ago

Average game time should be between 2 and three minutes unless you have pros lined up all day.

IMHO if I could put a pin on route that would bring in 11k gross I can make that work. I can't do it at 2500 or less, 40-50 a week. At 190-200 per week it would be doable. With any pin. Also IMHO it HAS to be the lcd screen making the difference. Surely the WoZ theme is a turn off more than a turn on, but if wrong about that too...then I am surprised(happily) we got the hobbit as the second theme. Someone had previously mentioned the slot machine correlation and how well the WoZ slot did in comparison to others.

But maybe at Reciprocal it's just such a good location for various reasons including the staff that this is an anomaly. I thought he mentioned it was doing better than his other pins, although in the pics they are always all slammed. I am soooo visiting Reciprocal next time I get to Manhattan!

You won't be disappointed. Then walk over to Brindle for a steak burger and homecut fries, and then back to Reciprocal for more games. Good times.

Just for the record..
My original post (though long ago, and hard to remember at this point) is not meant as a discussion about earnings. I am simply pointing out how many games played the machine has on it vs. how much maintenance and attention it has required. This is purely a post about reliability. I'm not making or claiming any earnings details, nor did I mean for this to be a discussion about its profitability on location. Any speculation about such, is purely that. Thanks.

My average WOZ gametime must have been well under 2 minutes in your place yesterday. Played about 10 games. Outlanes were brutal. Ball save didn't seem too active. What's the average? I just sucked.

Count how long the Shoot Again insert by the flippers stays Green after launching the ball. That will tell you how long the Ball Save is set to.

Doesn't matter. Nelson just sucked.

It still is a good forum discussion Teek. Including the part where someone wanted trolling to be banned (impractical) and the part where you think the size of the LCD in WOZ is improper. I disagree with your LCD opinion only because the one in WOZ is amazing to see when you are playing a multiplayer game waiting for your turn. It is much more engaging than a small DMD is, or that a small DMD sized LCD would be. A machine that can engage and excite people while not playing it is innovative. Even your opinion of having art on the backglass when the machine is off is valid, but I just disagree with it. I walk past machines that are turned off every day, and they look pretty dark. Not black like WOZ, but an unlit translite is pretty blah as well.

I agree completely. Having had my WOZ for a couple of months now, I'm hooked. It would be real hard to go back to just a DMD and a plain translite.

Sorry , I had a bad judgement in my humor.

I do suck. But you need to spend a little less time on the new bar and a little more time shopping the machines. A couple were a little rough. WOZ was fine, just set up hard.

#265 7 years ago

rough, as in tough? or rough as in not working?

i was there last night and i thought they were playing pretty good.

#266 7 years ago

Just a couple flippers here and there. I didn't play everything. CV looked great, didn't play it. SM looked good, didn't play it. Getaway needs some TLC. Upper right flipper IIRC. Can't remember, one the games behind WOZ...needed some help. Can any of your staff do any game work? You shouldn't be the only one working on the games these days. You don't have enough hours with the business and the new bar.

I'm trying to be constructive. I don't get in there as much as I'd like so it coulda just been an off day, but it seems that your traffic has just gotten off the charts, so naturally the games are getting good play and will need attention more often.

That WOZ is just a freaking beast. Your 457K is nothing short of amazing...but I did hear tell of a little scoring technique ... .... If I could keep the ball alive long enough.

Munchkins! Munchkin land modes == Money on WOZ.

I wonder if the next update will have final two Munchkin modes? I'm personally hoping that the existing Munchkin modes have there rules updated a bit to include progression. I believe as it stands now the two modes just award points for certain shots but there is not a sequence to follow unlike LOTR and TSPP. Keith has already redid the rules for Rescue MB so hopefully the same is coming for some of the current modes in the game.

The Munchkin land modes are money (points) because you can rack up the value of each hit with each additional Rainbow target you get. They start at 1000 per target and I've not seen an upper limit on how high you can push that per target amount. They're short modes (30 sec by default) but if you can get one going during a multiball, you can get some significant points out of it!

I would be fine if the current two Munchkinland modes remain as-is, making the last two something more goal oriented.

I'd REALLY rather see the Witch battles worked on next. She's kinda the major opponent after all.

A CANadian coin?

Great points. I'm hoping that the next update will include new modes! Do you know if the ability to collect emeralds and diamonds for overall game progression is in the code yet?

There's room to leapfrog the WOZ LCD. Have you seen the newest slot machines in casinos that use multiple layers of thin transparent LCDs? There can be the best of both worlds, but the it's hard to innovate when you've spent the last decade trying to survive. I highly doubt JJP will be able to fund serious R&D. In fact, I'd be very surprised to see if they have even broken even yet. It is a critical time for JJP and throwing a couple hundred grand at redesigning their signature technological jump is probably not in the cards.

Back on topic, the LCD cannot be a major maintenance issue or you would see many, slot machines out of order (like you do for slots with CRTs). Maybe time will be hard on LCD's too, but that is yet to be seen.
