Yep, I don't care which side of the argument you're on, get back on point or open another damn thread to talk about it!

    Thanks for playing along guys!

I logged on expecting a moderation...glad we can have fun with it.

    But yeah, here’s my take

Cost: relatively the same, vegan alternatives can get pricey, but so are the animal products which you no longer buy

Transition: this is tricky, although easy to just walk past so many of the aisles that you would normally buy stuff from, it does feel very limited until you start learning new recipes

Sourcing: so lower end stores won’t really cut it anymore, Costco has solid choices and of course Whole Foods is awesome with a whole section devoted to vegan, but you have to watch the sodium on some things.
And if you’re a green thumb at all, you can easily create your own food right from the dirt...far easier than the chicken slaughtering I used to do in my backyard

Social aspect: again tricky, can’t ram it down friends throats, start slow with the explanations, expect defensive arguments and eye rolling...just focus on the positives

I just read this thread before breafast, went to the kitchen where I smelled fresh bacon and eggs...came back with an apple and a bottle of water....WTF just happened, you should have seen the look on my wifes face.

excellent! Now it’s time to retheme your FT to Fruit Tales

    Quoted from Luckydogg420:

No. Don’t start slow with explanations; don’t ram it down friends throats. NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR DIET. Don’t try to convert anyone. Don’t judge anyone for eating meat. Don’t look sickened when others choose different life choices.
The only problem with going vegan is thinking that your a better person because of it, and deciding that you need to influence others to make the same choice.

Sorry, what I meant was explaining to friends and family who have known you to eat animal products why all of a sudden you aren’t anymore.

You go out to eat, have people over, they notice the change, a conversation emerges. It’s that conversation that needs to be handled carefully is all I meant.

    Vegans make better lovers.

Kim, grow up. Tell me to my face if you have a problem with my vegan lifestyle!

Let's just be frank. There are a lot of unhealthy people in pinball. If one person decides to eat better because of this thread, it was worth it. You are going to do what you are going to do. Some of us are going to turn back from the cliff, and some of us are going to run off it. I was close to, and probably at some times was, morbidly obese. You feel like death, like someone who isn't going to live a long life. I am not there anymore and will never be there again. I did it just eating better and walking more. Anyone can. Pick a day one and make sure there is a day 30. If you can do that, you got it.

    +1000

If you could remove 50+ lbs from someone who was at least that much overweight, and let them go around a few days before putting it back onto them, only then would they truly realize how much of an albatross it really is...

    Quoted from PW79:

This half ass thread was opened as a joke from OT comments in another thread. I really don't think it's a legit vegan safe place "club" thread but clearly you do.
Why are either of us in a vegetable thread on a pinball forum making shit posts?

It sure was...cracks me up that it’s still popping up...my next half ass thread planned is “who owns their own bubble machine”

    Quoted from PW79:

Or is it real & I've been manipulated into thinking it's a fake topic?

It’s both. Wife and I watched “what the health” and decided to try out the vegan thing. I know it’s corny Af to make a life decision after watching a documentary but screw it.

Truth is after about a month in we both feel much better, many slight ailments have all but dissipated for both of us...Not kidding

The thread was just me being silly about something I’m seriously giving a shot right now

    Quoted from Mr68:

Slow down, Mister. Those bubbles had better not be a petroleum product.

You better watch it...I’ll pull up to your house in my Tesla with some broccoli

    Quoted from swampfire:

I’m 48 hours into this meat-free diet and I can already feel a difference. Is it normal to get a little more blood flow, if you know what I mean?

I tried this stuff, I think it was macca powder and I’m through the roof...

    Quoted from swampfire:

It may also be due to the fact that it's finally skirt weather here in Philadelphia. Day 3...

Those moms at the school with those stretchy pants are killin me...

On bloodflow, polyphenols are definitely worth looking into...found in dark berries...here is my blackberry bush which I have been shaping for a few years, few weeks away from harvest now..can’t wait!

I'm partial to Flax Milk. I don't drink coffee, so I'm not sure how they pair...but I like it for cereal & recipes.

I got the same one, and this new coconut sugar free one from Costco

Funny because this was supposed to be a joke thread but really help me out with my weight loss goal.

Congrats man...never would have expected someone to say this

    Joke thread yes, but I’m serious about the issue...at 40 115/75 @ 150lb I’m feeling The best I have in over 20 years...down from 210lbs w/pre hypertension

    Keep up the good work

    #327 5 years ago
    Quoted from Rarehero:

Wow, congrats! I went from 216 to 179 a few years ago, and I'm back around 200 right now...150 seems like it would be IMPOSSIBLE! Next week I'm gonna get "back on the wagon" (daily exercise, cutting out sugar, cutting back on carbs/processed stuff) and try to get back into shape again.

    Thanks!

Wrench back on your sugar and about 15lbs will melt off...stop drinking your daily calories or at least make sure no drink exceedes about 30...and avoid diet drinks altogether...water for the win!!!

Chips (my weakness) and breads etc. should be at a minimum...

Combine that with just brisk walks around the neighborhood enough to get your heart rate up and when your endurance starts to build, start jogging a bit.

    #331 5 years ago

And if the ice cream man hits your block...call 911 immediately!
