    Quoted from Black_Knight:

What I love is the militant vegan/gluten-free folks with expensive leather bags and shoes being judgy about my beer and brats ...

There are different reasons why people choose to go vegan. Some people do it strictly for the health benefits, while others do it for humane reasons. It's unlikely you would see someone from the latter group wearing leather shoes.

    Quoted from Rarehero:

I have never prosteletized about my diet...I just wanna eat what I wanna eat and do my thing. It’s always the meat eaters who take the initiative to bring it up, insult me, rub it in my face, and mock. Classic insecurity.

It goes both ways, though. I have some vegan friends who are always judging me for what I eat and what I feed to my kids. One of my closest friends was just at my house yesterday. The first thing he did was open my refrigerator to see what was in there, and it wasn't because he was hungry.

Have to admit, I've missed your posts.

I'm glad to see both of you guys active again. I hope you'll stick around.

I've had a couple different vegan Sloppy Joes that would probably fool most people. They tasted awesome, and the texture was virtually identical to meat.

    Quoted from RobT:

Chipotle's is good too, because you can get their Sofritas (soy meat substitute) at no extra cost. The flavor of their soy is pretty darn good in my opinion, and soy can be a challenge in terms of getting it to soak in the marinade/seasoning.

The sofritas tastes good, but the amount of sodium in it is insane! A healthier vegan option would be the fajita veggies.

    Quoted from RobT:

Sodium has always been an issue with the meat substitutes unfortunately.

Sodium is just a huge issue with Chipotle in general. Heck, their tortilla alone has 600 mg of sodium. That's why I try not to eat there too often, even though I really love their food. When I do, I generally skip the tortilla and go with a bowl.

    Quoted from RobT:

... if you order with no "protein" at all, did you know that you get to add the guacamole for free? Pretty cool.

Yep, and their guac sure is yummy!

    Quoted from Mr68:

Why can't they make those alternative ice creams with Stevia?

    They're out there. Here's one example ...

I was in Los Angeles last week. I have to say, it's way easier to be a vegan out there than it is in Chicago. There are great restaurants with vegetarian and vegan options EVERYWHERE. My family and I ate at a place near our hotel in Santa Monica called True Food Kitchen. It was awesome! I only wish they had restaurants like that around here.

    Quoted from vicjw66:

And our pizza is better here too. I was not at all impressed with your deep dish pizza ...

I'm afraid I can't agree with you on that one. The next time you are in Chicago, look me up and I will take you to a deep dish pizza place that will knock your socks off.

I thought this was funny - Edward James Olmos went to Vinh Loi Tofu 3 times in a row this week!!!

Lieutenant Castillo must really like Vietnamese food.

Combine that with just brisk walks around the neighborhood enough to get your heart rate up and when your endurance starts to build, start jogging a bit.

I like cycling. Easier on the joints.
