It’s both. Wife and I watched “what the health” and decided to try out the vegan thing. I know it’s corny Af to make a life decision after watching a documentary but screw it.

Ask your Doctor for a set of lab tests (blood), and use it as a base line. Liver panel, triglycerides level, etc.
Check it again after 30-45 days.

Yes! It is one of the (ahem) biggest advantages to going vegan. Noticeable difference for sure. James Cameron is coming out with a movie about a vegan diet. He has said that men could stop taking Viagra by simply going plant based.
48 hours seems pretty quick to notice such a change though. Congrats.
I would never go vegan just to follow a fad. Or because I feel bad for an animal. I understand how nature works. Shit gets eaten every day, whether by man or beast. I will say that there is a lot to be said for good animal husbandry. If you're going to kill and eat something, at least do it in as humane and painless a way as possible. And eat or use every part of the animal you can. I can empathize with the people who cant have dairy and such wanting to find alternatives that still taste like meat or cheese, but if someone doesn't want to eat chicken because it's inhumane, I find it silly to want to try and replicate the taste. And even though I love pretty much all commercial meats and wild game, I can still throw down on all vegetable dishes and be satisfied. I can roast a couple eggplants or smother some cabbage for supper and be totally satisfied with that. I also don't have to have meat with every meal and walk around being all macho about it. I think the back and forth from both sides is really silly considering each is free to follow their own diet. The millennials that I work with say something often, and it's actually something I can agree with them on. They are fond of saying, "You do you and let me do me".

Why is it silly to want to replicate the taste of chicken? Whether your motivation is to eat healthier, or because you don’t want to take part in the killing of chickens, does that really matter?

I actually have a very different diet than my parents. But you're right that when I was a kid I ate whatever they provided. It's kinda what you have to do as a kid.

I don't believe you will find a recommendation for what other people should do in any of my statements. I made one post stating what I believed, not what I thought others should be doing. I hardly think that's going out on a limb for anything and I didn't think it warranted any snarky responses.

Ha, I don't even have to look, I remember that post! I do need to lose about 15 pounds, 30 to make my doctor happy. Day 4 of meatless week, still going strong. But not vegan -- I'm eating cheese too, but in moderation.

I'm still trying to figure out how a post about losing weight being inversely proportional to penis size locks a pedophilia thread, but whatever. I'm not vegan, but I eat a lot more vegetables. I eat some dairy (milk in my coffee, fetta in my salads, American cheese in the occasional breakfast sandwich). Ultimately, don't eat more calories than you burn in a day, and try to know how many calories you are burning. If you are trying to lose weight, that last 10% is a bitch

Calorie counting apps are a huge eye opener. We all eat too much, and it's really hard to cut back at first.
I did really well with calorie counting & exercise a few years back...went from 216 to 179 - and even then, I still had fat on my midsection. I'm back around 200, but strangely most of the new clothes I bought from when I lost weight still fit pretty decently. I need to get back on the weight loss fitness wagon...but it's always something - I'll start, then get sick...something. Bah.

Maybe due to your BF% going down? That would be my guess.
The change to dairy free was easy with the exception of milk. I especially love it in my coffee. So far the unsweetened almond milk is my favorite but I'm wondering if anyone has a any suggestions?
By the way, the bratwurst from Beyond Burger is out now and it is spectacular.

I'm partial to Flax Milk. I don't drink coffee, so I'm not sure how they pair...but I like it for cereal & recipes.

Sadly (or is it?) I had to give up coffee nearly 2 years ago now because of stomach issues.

My grandfather ate real half-and-half in his cereal with a side of bacon...then smoked cigarettes. He had every horrible health problem you could imagine...made it to 84. My other grandparents lived till 97, 97, and 99.
So, I'm thinkin' if I keep up this healthy livin', I'll make it to 300 or so!!! ....or get hit by a truck.

I got the same one, and this new coconut sugar free one from Costco
A Whole Foods just opened up by me so I checked it out. Never been in one before. Anyway, I tried these two products.
The sausage tasted pretty good, but admittedly not the healthiest option with a fair amount of saturated fat and sodium. Still, not so bad a version compared to a real polish sausage.
The veggie burger is a healthy alternative but the texture is not so great and it tastes pretty bland. You really have to dress it up with condiments. If you remember the scene where Clark Griswold tried to eat the burger and it falls apart when he takes a bite, then cousin Eddie says “I don’t know why they call it hamburger helper, it does just fine by itself” that’s basically it.

My family and I ate at a place near our hotel in Santa Monica called True Food Kitchen. It was awesome! I only wish they had restaurants like that around here.
