Today, as I watched my 2 dear nieces laugh histarically at Shrek, I had to wonder why Stern ever even made a reskinned Family Guy in the first place; seems ingenious; half the engineering, twice the games, right? Well obviously one sold a lot better than the other...

So I have to ask this question...

Why doesn't Stern, or another capable company, create a spinoff brand, that's dedicated to adult oriented themes, and keep their regular brand for the family oriented ones? I know a number of mainstream software companies did this in the past for adult oriented video games...with major success.

Further, liscensing aside, imagine the possibilities of one play field layout, and two themes, changing only the rule set/callouts/play field art/etc? With the way it is these days, with live renderings of actual footage from classic themes (Star Wars, for example) on the back box display, how hard would it be to have, I don't know, The Terminator as one theme, and Ice Age as the other? Kind of how badge engineering works in the automotive world...

Maybe I'm crazy, and just don't understand pinball economics.

Or maybe, Heighway should focus on great, "adult" themes, and have that be their niche...I'm still waiting for my '70/80's themed Dukes of Hazard to come out. It only seems natural...

Please no. And Heighway needs to fucos on giving the requested refunds and delivering the games that were paid for years ago.

Sales maybe ?

There is a limit to how "adult" you can get. People with families won't buy. Family friendly locations won't have it.

I've never seen great demand to get Zingy Bingy into production. As opposed to Wizard Blocks.

I'm not talking porno themed pins, but legit, adult themed ones, again, like T1; more like rated "R"...BBB, Aliens, etc., but taken to the next level with modern display technology. Imagine the modes T1 could have integrated with the display as shots are made? The initial chase with Reese and the machine, hit a shot and Reese gets further away, brick one, and the machine hits the vehicle with the shotgun...would be awesome!

Stern makes "adult" pins like Playboy & Sopranos, and they make stuff for kids like Avengers.

No need for 2 different labels, because the general public is totally unaware of pinball.

Average people still perceive pinball as addictive gambling, not as family fun.

I think this is a great idea. I remember hearing about someone doing a retheme of WCS94 into Kill Bill. Something like this at a production level makes sense. Awesome playfield design, make a theme family oriented and another for a different audience. This also would give Stern etc a chance to try out different themes at a cheaper production cost they may not gamble with otherwise. Big Trouble in Little china, Slayer, Evil Dead etc.

I think it would be a smart idea from an engineering, manufacturing point of view. The tooling and machining for production can be a major expense for manufactures. If some of those aspects could be re-used it would definitely be a win. Most casual players would never notice that the layout of two machines was the same. Maybe in the old days it would not have gone over but I think it could today. Maybe even more than two machines sharing a design could work. From a resource point of view this would be beneficial. Of course, the overall success would depend upon the themes, the marketing and other factors as with any pin.

I would like to see an adult themed, or A rated, pinball machine, an XXX rated machine not so much. (Having said that, I’m probably destine to end up with a sexy girl or a big dick…….pinball machine that is ) I think that the difference is that adult material can be subtle, suggestive, naughty and nuanced while XXX is often foul and nasty.

Still though, I would like to have a Zingy Bingy machine! Then again I'm a big Python fan. I have never played it but it looks kind of silly, fun and naughty. A little along the lines of the old Benny Hill show, which was a mixture of slapstick comedy and burlesque.

Adult themes I would like to see and would not mind if there were shared layouts with family friendly games:

Vargas Girls
Clockwork Orange
Excalibur
SinCity
Re-Animator
Suicide Girls
Heavy Metal

How about a 50 Shades of Grey machine! just imagine the toy possibilities!

I think there is a space for some heavier adult themes,I think the Elvira franchise could be great for one example.I operate in several bars and always try to place titles that have a little raunchy side to them.I have south park, family guy,rob zombie, playboy, harley davidson just for this reason.

I would like to see some "hardcore" adult themes such as:

-Taxes (1040 Pinball, Schedule K Pinball, etc.)
-Parenting
-Home Ownership
-Investment Planning
-Estate Planning

These themes are completely untapped and could virtually change the way we look at pinball forever.

Haha, thank you for this post Maybe this would fall under "reality" pinball.
The game of life pinball?

9 out of 10 doctors say pinball is not addictive!
I guess I'm in the one tenth percent.

The sexual innuendos would be endless for a hardcore porn pin. It is a worthy cause.

Can we retheme Taxi to Taxicab Confessions. They already have a good working relationship with HBO.

- Family Law Court, "It's fun to compete!"
- DUI, a 911 retheme, you have to put your car keys in the slot and pass a breathalyzer before you get them back
- Queue Up! An adrenalin pumping adventure of motor vehicle registration department lines
- Resume (CV for the export version) - a unique playfield of endless hoops jump through!

Self edited for being too adult or more specifically possibly political.

Not sure the Flanders types here would approve of this...

A couple of adult themes I would like to see DREDD was a great R rated movie and SAW while it might be everyone's type of movie the traps from the films could make for some awesome pinball toys.

+1 for SinCity - What a fantastic "mature audiences" theme that is.
