Quoted from Kkoss24:Driving home last night from work a fleet of nascars last me going south on I-65....
Thought they hauled those inside? Those post race I guess?
Quoted from rad:He's been back once but not much left for him to enjoy.
Guess he didn't find any honey?
Quoted from rad:Ketchup was his condiment of choice.
Can you imagine what the other bears said when the saw all the red on him. Dude, you've been shot, Wow, what a prankster!
Quoted from Hayfarmer:it was view out my car window. But so pretty at 7 am, mt rainier
I thought that was Mr. Rainier, but wasn't sure. Been 10+ years since I've seen it.
My grandad from the Seattle area, when he built his house, the main living room window was at a precise angle such that it was a square view of Mt. Rainier.
The land across the street from his home was sold a few years ago to a trust, but they will allow trees in our view of the mountain to be trimmed such we can keep our view.
Thanks for posting, brings back memories.
Quoted from dirkdiggler:Not sure what kind he is but these spiders are huge.
That one somewhat resembles the orb weaver species.
pasted_image (resized).pngQuoted from TractorDoc:I spent a few minutes today watching as the plane would fly by, circle, and eventually release its cargo.
Any of them have a streamer yet and have to pull the reserve?
I've seen it happen twice. Back in college a buddy and I played golf at a course way out in the country and there was a jump school was next door. Two separate we times watched divers dump their main and pull the reserve. Fortunately they both were successful but lead to some tense moments watching. I will say it was slightly distracting when they were overhead, I was always watching them drift down and not playing golf. Every so often the wind would shift and they would land on our fairway, always wondered if that was a 'seasonal' hazard.
Quoted from Slugmeister:Mama deer is 22 years old and she has had that terrible injury almost her whole life. She is the definition of perseverance.
Must be pretty cool to see her back each year?
Quoted from rad:Maroon Bells Wilderness Area - near Aspen, Colorado (pics taken on climb of Pyramid Peak).
More like pics taken from the local souvenir booth off postcards.
Seriously though, those photos are gorgeous!
Quoted from TractorDoc:I'll be ready with my turbine blower. This thing will blow leaves off the trees and into the neighbor's neighbor's yard!
Oh man, o-din would really loose it if that was running outside his place at 0800!

Quoted from LTG:Shoveled 3 times. Storm still going strong.
Said it before, will say it again, that sure is pretty to visit, but I don't live in it!
Quoted from deadzebra:some sort of giant yellow pigeon?
Is that bird wearing a mask I hope...
Quoted from TractorDoc:First Snow of the Year!
So beautiful, so glad I'm an hour from the Gulf of Mexico.
Quoted from ReadyPO:Surely your florabunda are not still blooming this time of year, even in Texas?
Yessir, that's in our front flower bed, photo taken last night.
Gotta love Houston weather. (Not really)
Quoted from yzfguy:grow your own flour
Only white stuff we get 'round these parts, since I don't do blow.
Quoted from Jaybird815:Your whole city is probably shut down?
Yep, no snow plows 'round these part. Not even supposed to get above freezing until late tomorrow, looks like it's going to stick around a while too.
Quoted from Daditude:Very true. Here is a pic of my street:
I also noticed it had turned to Hoth around here!
No At-At around my place though.
I don't think pilots should be allowed to post in here anymore. Too many extraordinary office window shots!
Quoted from golfingdad1:What do you do with a snake like that, on your property?
While my answer may not be agreed upon by all, but since I have many 4 legged friends on my property 24/7, the snake in the picture become a few inches shorter and then relocated permanently to the woods next door.
I will say I make every effort to positively ID creatures as friend or foe. The last one was colored "red on yellow"... it too was permanently relocated after my dog chased it and thankfully listened to me when I yelled at him to stop the pursuit.
Ok, up vote this for all those who want to downvote these for NOT having been able to witness these fine views first hand?
I know I'm jelly!
Quoted from freddy:Bj’s regular $3.17 in pa hope it stays there!!!
Cripes, we are so spoiled down here, I just paid $3.12 / gallon for 93 octane.
Quoted from jaytrem:Co-worker was not happy to have this little guy in her office this morning...
little guy was not happy to be in her office this morning either.
Quoted from Bud:Flying into New York and over this cool freighter
Ah, pinball resupply parts are arriving soon!
Quoted from EJS:I’m taking a late lunch break just laying on the floor at a clinic.
So how many ceiling tiles are there?
Quoted from ReadyPO:obligatory Camel shot.
I've seen lots of camel toes before, but never on a camel!
Quoted from Coindork:Our bobcat is back.
Makes my new friend look a little less intimidating.
This is about as exotic of an arachnid as we see around here.
20210927_104120 (resized).jpgQuoted from zombywoof:Wolf spider?
Yes, mine was a wolfie.
I think I caught his GF in my office the same day, I felt bad because as I gently scooped her up to put her outside, all her babies came scampering off her back. None the less, I put her outside, hopefully she and he will meet up again some day.
Quoted from Bud:Ivanpah solar power plant, largest solar plant in the world. Pretty amazing, flew past it today on the way to San Bernardino.
You jerk, you're contributing to it's inefficiencies.
I quote, In November 2014, the Associated Press reported that the facility was producing only "about half of its expected annual output". The California Energy Commission issued a statement blaming this on "clouds, jet contrails and weather".
Really, contrails! Must be the same ones with the drugs in them to control us! And are clouds part of the weather?
Anyway, it was a good read, thanks for sharing!
As I've stated before, we don't get fun spiders like tarantulas, but this fella is hanging out under my eve. Hard to tell in the pic but with legs outstretched, he's between 3 - 4 inch.
I tried to get my hand in the image for scale but it kept startling him.
These orb weavers shake their web when started, makes it even more difficult to capture a good image.
Quoted from punkin:BeeDoubleEDoubleRUn...Beerun
Ok, what are you drinking tomorrow?
Quoted from Mopar:I'm waiting showing a picture of one of these guys as your pet..
Somewhere someone is saying, damn there goes a new pair of boots, a belt, some suspenders, a purse with matching wallet x 3 !
That was pretty cool how they help stop traffic to let it cross.
Quoted from jaytrem:Anybody know what those nests are in the trees?
Not sure they are the same but they look like what we call bag worms.
Quoted from zombywoof:Is that from the Confederate Air Force collection? We have the Military Aviation Museum in town, so it’s not terribly unusual to see relics like that flying overhead.
They changed the name some time ago to commerative air force. Keeps the same three letters as the previous name. But yes, I actually get to see the B17 a few times each year. There is no mistaking that radial engine sound x 4.
They had another 2 radial engine aircraft out this weekend but I didn't recognize it. Pretty sure it wad navy, it had a blue paint scheme. Only saw it once but saw the 17 3 or 4 times. One of these days I'll pay the cost to actually take a flight in it.
Quoted from dirkdiggler:Still coming down here. Might be a slow drive to your area today
Meanwhile in the deep south.

Quoted from ReadyPO:Had a storm with super high wind blow through yesterday morning. Good news, no damage to house or cars.
Man, the pictures I posted yesterday were also of a storm. I didn't realize it until this morning on my bike ride around the neighborhood, when i saw at least 3 trees down. Also fortunately though, they all missed homes and autos.
Crazy too as it was only about 15 minutes long.
Today we are back expecting triple digits.
Quoted from mbwalker:Those look rather stout! What does it take to make one of those?
I think these are cast from sand molds and then machine finished.
Only took 4 months to get them and if we wanted more now, it would be about 6 to 8.
Lead times and getting worse daily.
Let me set the scene for you.
Come the weekend, I throw out left overs and veggies going bad etc into the woods next to our house. We have raccoons, squirrels, opossums, stray cats and the occasional armadillo eat the goods.
So yesterday morning, I did just that and in lot was some sort of whole grain, keto friendly tortillas.
This morning, while taking the dog for his walk, I spotted the tortillas still remained. Those must be some terrible tortillas if even the wild creatures turn up their noses to them. No wonder the wife didn't eat them.
Quoted from pinwiztom:Cherry tomato plants that I planted last month are doing pretty good.
How do you keep the birds out of them? That is always our problem.
Taking Charlie out for his last walk of the night last night, didn't have the flash light on, something darted away from our path.
All I saw was something long, figured it was a snake.
Charlie cued me in to this amphib hiding between bike tires. Poor thing, we've not had rain in weeks, hope it finds some water.
Quoted from mcluvin:Has your dash turned sticky yet?
No, and it's parked outside.
It is a 2012, did have to replace the headliner about a year ago.
What era dubs have dash issues?
Quoted from pinwiztom:Found a photo of my wife's collection of vintage sewing machines.
Some nice ones in there. Our last name is Singer (no relation sadly) and years ago could say, you know like the sewing machine.
Now it's more like, you know like "wedding singer".
Quoted from DarthPaul:It always makes me laugh when someone posts a picture of A deer.
Deer God
Long story long, thanks to a neglectful water co, I suspected a sewer line leak in this spot. The good news was no leak, the bad news I needed new dirt to help fill the hole.
Apparently dirt dobbers really like this red dirt.
Saw at least a dozen swarming it. Couldn't get but three in a pic, they just didn't cooperate with the photographer.
Quoted from dirkdiggler:I think I'm ready for a pinball machine or two
Somebody has a problem!
I mean not all those boxes facing the same direction, well at least they are by row. Those gaps also don't look uniform, use a tape measure next time uh?
Quoted from LTG:Elmers glue mixed with water, 50-50. Soak it good and let it dry. It will stay put.
Better than my way, I would just pour used motor oil on the other rocks until it is all the same color.
Quoted from Jaybird815:Peaceful day on the river
I was just reading yesterday the Mississippi levels were down significantly causing yet more product shipping issues, what are you seeing where you are?
Cripes, I'll sell you some!
We WERE going to sell them to our customer for a mere $90 each, but hell, if y'all pay $991, how many can I put you down for.
Pulling some weeds this morning, like the saying if it was a snake...
Luckily our weather was cooler enough this morning that this one was very docile.
Despite being poisonous, couldn't bring my self to behead this one. Simply relocated it to the neighboring wooded area.
Quoted from EJS:Didn’t turn out as well as I’d hoped…
Ditto,
1, 5x and 10x zoom from the phone cam.
Quoted from PopBumperPete:This was just parked outside my house
no badging at all
Looks like a place for the Ford oval?

Well don't let little Otto drink so much time. He does look pooped.
Quoted from tscottn:Can any of you Pilots/Aviation Enthusiasts spot the non working instrument?
Your radar altimeter appears incorrect?
Quoted from DCP:When I was a kid in Illinois in the 1960s, a truck would drive around the neighborhood spraying a dense fog of bug spray
They did this in my neighborhood in the 80s & 90s, if we were outside when the truck passed, we just held our breath for as long as possible then went by to playing, I'm sure there were not some ill stuff effects.
We have a couple motion sensors in our warehouse to announce visitors.
One of them was going bonkers just now, yet no cars parked in front.
Was it someone on foot?
Nope.
Two frolicking spiders!
Quoted from cpr9999:Who manufactures those….big motors!
Those motors are actually Brazilian, made by company called WEG.
They are actually just ancillary products that will drive a hydraulic power unit on a rig that has either an 1150 or 1500HP motor for it's drill.
Unfortunately we don't get to sell the 1150 or 1500HP sizes, those are sold direct by the manufacturer.
The large vertical motor was bound for a water pumping station in Brazil, I forget the size now but it was likely around 5000 - 7500HP.
The gentlemen in the photo was my drilling customer at the time, and as you can see, it was back in '09 we were at the WEG factory in Brazil.
The next photo is he and I inside the frame for a large DC Synchronous motor, think it was a 10000HP. Likely for a natural gas rig going onto a large compressor.
He was buying the little square motors from me in the last picture, only 600HP. Most all drilling motors are patterned off old GE DC traction motors from the rail industry. They are all almost AC motors now.
100_1447 (resized).JPG100_1450 (resized).JPG100_1503 (resized).JPGQuoted from cpr9999:Now you just need some Rockwell Automation controls to run it.
Pretty sure they are operated via Yaskawa drives which are controlled by AB plcs, so there is your Rockwell. The circuits are protected by either ABB or Eaton lv breakers.
Quoted from jaytrem:Not my house, but wow, they went pretty high with this one...
The lengths some people will go to for a bigger basement so they can add a few more pins.
That's dedication.
Quoted from mymalibu:That one crazy looking bug!
Pretty funny, it got its head stuck in the hinge and couldn't escape and the combat baits aren't even deployed in there.
Quoted from EJS:Anyone recognize this trucking logo?
Can you find the USDOT number on any of your images?
I've tracked down a few trucks using those.
Good luck on your quest, glad it didn't result in an injury.
Quoted from golfingdad1:Well Sh*t ...literally ! Heck of a storm blew threw last night .
Yep, that's a sh1t show!
There I was strolling through the back yard with Charlie for his pre-bedtime potty walk, immediately after deploying these decoys, an attempt to keep the community kitties off my car and from chewing on my car antenna. I kid you not, I just happen to pause and look down and see this lad / lass directly in my path.
I gently picked it up by the tail and escorted it to the adjacent woods. Just a small 12 incher, but made my toys look like, well, toys.
What are the odds!

Just checked my Ring cam, damn decoys didn't work.
Screenshot_20230913_213430_Ring (resized).jpgQuoted from JohnnyPinball007:Does your car have a key fob with a button that will make the horn blow?
It does, I'm just trying non annoying tactics for my neighbors sake first.
Quoted from punkin:Snakes don't like being picked up by the tail
I'm sure they don't, but I don't like trips to the clinic for anti venom either. This one was one of the few poisonous snakes we have in our area. I felt it best stay away from its venomous end since I had no gloves.
Quoted from Atari_Daze:Watching our work neighbors load an emergency fire pump house bound for a drilling rig somewhere.
Here is the electric motor coupling half for a similar set up inside the above pump house. The bore is 3-3/8" which could be anywhere from a 100-500HP motor.
I found it funny, that despite it being a non-electrical component, even the couplings for these fire pumps have to be UL listed.
This hunk of iron was $1000.00, I think most of that due to being UL Listed.
Quoted from Vespula:the majority of people's allergies during this time are from the ragweed which is also pollinating and the more common cause.
Can confirm that for here, it's been a rough couple of weeks. Friday night last, I spent over 30 minutes sneezing continuously until the meds kicked in, it was brutal.
pasted_image (resized).pngQuoted from punkin:Sunrise looking decidedly shifty this morning.
Red sky in morning, sailor take warning.
Red sky at night, sailor delight.
