Very sorry to hear, he was a well respected member of our community here on Pinside and will be missed.

    #2707 2 years ago

I’m so sorry to hear this. He was such a nice guy on here. Really enjoyed interacting with him. Reading this just now absolutely gutted me.

    Quoted from GrahamStrong93:

My dad bssbllr passed away last week, a long tough battle with cancer most of you had saw in his posts… he fought till the very end. Been a tough week even tougher to get on here and post or read posts, but it’s actually made me happy, reading the things he wrote… I hope you all enjoyed his posts. He appreciated you guys on here and made his retirement, even though it was early and because of the sickness, much more enjoyable. I appreciate the friends he made on here and thankful he could help or talk to you guys. #GrahamStrong forever. I’m glad I could enjoy this site now the same way he had! And I’ll keep playing his pinball game, though he’ll forever have the high score!
    [quoted image]

Needless to say, I never met your dad but reading his post here, he came across as a down to earth, cool guy.

I would have been proud to call him my father.

My grandson had a door slam on his finger in school last week. It not only smashed the tip but it cut and ripped the top half of his finger nail off. The doctors had to remove the rest of the nail and ended up with four stitches underneath. They then placed the remaining part of the nail back in place and crossed their fingers.

Hopefully, it grows back. I told him if it didn't, I was going to call him finger for the rest of his life!

There is a famous quote that goes "when one door shuts another opens."
In this case the door that opened must be the door to the emergency room.

A truck moves an 89,000-pound paper roller around our home in Piedmont. This and at least 5 others are being shipped to Turkey after being purchased from the paper mill near here that closed a couple of years ago.
Our building is on a corner where the streets meet at a 60-degree angle. The drivers are pros, and only have to stop and back up a little to make it around the corner. They also have about 1 foot of clearance next to a fire hydrant.
    Pretty nerve wracking to watch!

What a shocker this would be as your sitting in math class. A moose busted thru a window at a Saskatoon school yesterday

    Quoted from poppapin:

    Don't forget Jughead!

and the fact that the lead story underneath is:

"Alberta is getting out of the online cannabis business and instead lets licensed retailers sell via Internet."

Just adds to the hilarity. Yikes, Miss Grundy (and not the hot one from the tv series "Riverdale") is looking for us...

The wife was recruited to volunteer at our local animal rescue and was immediately adopted by Tigger the rooster a former "fighter".We have the space and a couple of greenhouses not being used much anymore. So we threw all that together and brought Tigger here. After 1 day he calmed down and a week in he actually seems happy. Our free range peacock has also befriended him although he is pretty submissive to the peacock.Anyway wasn't in the plans but some things just happen.

    Bite my shiny metal recreation!

Anyway, I went up to the local speedway on Sunday and spent an afternoon watching the races and being weirded out by seeing most of the cars race clockwise - the only series that didn't were the sprint cars/super modifieds/"F1 stocks" or whatever they're called - but all the racing was incredible, it's just a shame we don't have any proper big tracks in the country (the longest oval in regular use here's 1/2mi, but there's a couple tracks with 1mi ovals that aren't used)

Speedway is raced on dirt tracks here.

Found one of the other pics of that carpet snake.

This guy may be a different one, he's the same dark colouring, but the one last week was larger. I posted a pic of him 12 months or so ago curled up on a chair down the back but couldn't find it on my computer.

Same here. I lived a couple miles from a dirt track when I was a kid and loved going Saturday nights to the track. They eventually built a drag strip and that was a blast also. Especially the drag bikes. Crazy bastards

Short video of the Keystone Viaduct, part of an awesome bike trail we ride on called the Great Allegheny Passage. We parked our bikes and I walked back across the bridge to record it.
That part of the trail is in Pennsylvania, but it's less than 30 miles from our home in West Virginia. We cross through Maryland to get there. It's interesting living so close to 4 different states (Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and WV), and we're only 3 hours from Washington D.C. We're in the middle of nowhere, but not far from millions of people.
We're hoping to do some more riding on the G.A.P. trail this fall!

This is the next big bridge along that same trail. It's called the Salisbury Viaduct - it carried railroad traffic from 1912 to 1975, and now only carries bikes and pedestrians.
No worries about the strength of this bridge!

Parhelion ("sundog") seen from the Great Allegheny Passage rail trail Tuesday between Big Savage Tunnel and the Maryland/Pennsylvania border.
Second pic is the south entrance of Big Savage Tunnel. At 3300 feet long, it's the longest tunnel on this bike trail.

As I've stated before, we don't get fun spiders like tarantulas, but this fella is hanging out under my eve. Hard to tell in the pic but with legs outstretched, he's between 3 - 4 inch.
I tried to get my hand in the image for scale but it kept startling him.
These orb weavers shake their web when started, makes it even more difficult to capture a good image.
