Train load out at a central QLD coal mine today. Incredible amount of wildlife in this harsh environment. The dam catches wash, silt and all sorts of crap from the mine, unbelievably the birds and other wildlife have adjusted and thrive. The red pig weed reminds me of War of the World's

This trainline has run down the same path through Piedmont since 1851, when it was part of the B&O Railroad's "West End"...170 years ago. Now it's called the CSX Mountain Subdivision. We are at the foot of the 17 Mile Grade, a stretch of railroad that is still a challenge to engineers and track maintainers.
CSX 911 has been operating as a manned helper unit on our local coal train. It has a very striking commemorative paint scheme that makes it look like a giant fire truck. It really stands out amongst all the normal blue and yellow CSX colors.
The track going up to the Mt. Storm power plant has curves so sharp that they use real switchbacks. The train goes up dead-end extensions at the sharpest curves, then the helper becomes the front of the train and continues up to the next switchback, where they swap ends again.
The helper crew rides facing backwards at the end of the train for most of the trip, only taking control during the few sections where they are facing forward. Pretty unusual setup.
Here's a video I took in 2017 of rail grinders passing through town. I enjoy seeing the many kinds of bizarre track maintenance vehicles and varieties of hirails (cars and trucks with retractable train wheels).

Thanks it’s been a long 2 months sitting on this recliner and hospital bed. I was able to drain 40lbs of fluid from my stomach and legs so I am way more comfortable. Actually able to get around and it feels great.

Did you watch the documentary that just came out on him?
Quoted from dirkdiggler:Severe thunderstorm warning. Got dark in a hurry.
We've had a couple of intense storms after one of the driest summers ever...here's a view from my kitchen window from 2 days ago - sheets of rain were blowing sideways for 15-20 minutes straight. A storm cell formed just to our north and moved away slowly, drenching everything.

Not yet, gotta check it out.
Excellent use of space mate. You can grow spuds in car tires or pipe too if you have extra space somewhere.
Jaybird815 I waved to you as I drove by this morning
