    Snow is back - before the cement deck when the kids were young we would open the back door and let them get a running start with their sleds. Hard right turn then an easy left left and down the speed chute to the ledge at the lake. Depending on the landing off the ledge another 200 or 300 ft of out of control sliding on the ice - this year would be a splash and that water is frickin cold - also noticed son forgot to put the bbq cover on

    My brother plowed his driveway with this setup today. Worked like a champ! Hillbilly engineering at its finest.

    Very clever, but I guess the snowblower in the background wouldn't start?

    #1503 3 years ago

    Correct.

    #1504 3 years ago

    It probably just needs a fuse.

    #1505 3 years ago

    Maybe a trough switch needs adjusting?

    #1506 3 years ago

    Or more than likely the carburetor needs a cleaning.

    #1507 3 years ago

    And so a coil is not firing.

    My best snow blower story.
    Many years ago I was the first person to arrive at a friends cabin. Near Manning Park, in British Columbia. The driveway was covered with 3 to 4 feet of snow, and is around 100 feet long. I trudged up to the cabin, got the hidden keys, opened the shed with the snow blowers in it. There was an old Sears snow blower and a shiny new one. The new one was chained and had a Denver Boot installed, with no keys in sight. The old one was out of fuel, there was fuel in the shed. It must of took 30 minutes to get the older one running, many, many, many pulls to get to fire up.
    Managed to plow a single path up to the road, this did take some time. A few hours later the owner showed up, and commented on only clearing a single path to the road. When I told the story regarding starting the older snow blower, he just starting laughing followed by more laughing. He explained that the old snow blower has not ran for over 4 years.

    We don't get a lot of snow in Seattle, but once in a while.....Probably 7" so far with another 3"-4" before it quits.

    Here in Salem OR we got hit on Friday nite with an ice storm. Tons of large branches and trees fallen all over town. One hit my truck in the driveway and crushed the windshield and hood. Everything was covered with quarter inch of ice. We were without power for 24hrs. No fatalities as far as i know.

    We've had some snow the last couple weeks, but nothing unexpected for an Ohio winter.

    Weather people are calling for a lot more of it in the next day or so though so I thought I better have my other toys ready.

    We're in the middle of a 20 day stretch with daily high temperatures around twenty degrees (or more) below the historical average high temps for this time of year. During this period the daily highs (around 15 degrees) have all been below the normal daily lows (around 17 degrees). And with measurable snow every day except one over the last two weeks we have had more than 28 inches of snow during that time. The low temps prevent any from melting, so it just keeps piling up. Between now and Tuesday morning another 6 to 10 inches of snow is forecast. As I type this the temp at O'Hare is 2 degrees with minus twelve wind chill (and heading down from there). Today set the coldest high temperature (4 degrees official at O'Hare) ever on Valentine's Day for Chicago.

    It’s been a crazy winter here, mild weather and no snow, then February hit, hasn’t been above 15 in weeks and after today’s round of snow there will be close to 3’ on the ground.

    19c = 66F

    9C = 48F

    No snow, ever in recorded history.

    I just couldn't deal with it, i'd move south if i lived in your snow country. I like motorcycles, surf and sunshine. I'm sure it's somewhat beautiful at times, but i'd get sick of cold feet and coldsores.

    There are times when I detest the cold, but on the other hand I can handle it better than the heat. Start getting above 75F degrees then throw in some humidity and I become miserable.

    I'd eat the skinny cow, but we can get them in the hills above town here too. Other than that....nnoooooooooo.....

    Come to think of it i still have 10lbs of venison trim in the freezer waiting for me to do black pepper snack sticks or venison pepperoni with.

    It’s usually a good idea to get your car off the side of the road before a heavy snow.
