pasted_image (resized).pngWe decided to start a bunch of pepper plants from seed this year. We really wanted to grow some Incan tear drop peppers and could only do this by starting from seed (entire left tray), so we also decided to also plant some seeds I harvested from ripe peppers we grew in previous years (which means we could get some interesting pepper hybrids!).
Quite surprised that almost all the seeds germinated, so now we will have several beds full of peppers this year. Which is nice since the plant nursery we usually use is closed and the farmers market likely won’t happen either, at least for a while. I also just started some cucamelon seeds, which was mainly because the fruits look cool, we’ll see how they do. Watching things grow is a nice way to spend the forced time at home.

And you get to give the gift of food to friends and neighbours. Win all round.
Quoted from Daditude:One of my rose bushes:
Nice blooms on that Floribunda! My father was a Rosarian and had hundreds of Roses. Its all we can do to keep our little rose bed alive. Did get it cleaned up and mulched this year, but no buds for us yet 500 miles north of you (we have had freezing temps the last three nights)

Yes today
Usually May 1st is the peak of springtime bloomage and trees filling out with leaves.
My white oaks out front are just starting to bud out now.
Highs are mid 60s and lows mid 40s lately
though we did have a small hail storm a week ago
and about an inch of snow that stuck to the ground for 24hrs last month.

Some of the best days in my life have been spent in a canoe.
Made this one with my ex on weekends and enjoyed it for years. Gave it to some kids a few years ago to use on their farm dam and they still enjoy it.
Mostly fished fresh water for Murray Cod, and did a few overnight paddles in it.

Gathering like that is still illegal here unless you are mostly members of the same household. Just starting to ease the last week and allow limited visiting.
