I noticed tonight on my Metallica Pro when the left flipper button is held in, there is a loud hum or buzz sound. The right flipper makes a faint sound like this, but the left side is pretty loud.

Thoughts or insights on a cause or potential problem I'm facing?

Pretty normal on Sterns. It's the coil stop. Sometimes the core seperates from the metal and can cause binding. I've learned to live with it.

Common Stern problem.

I've found if you lightly file the coil stop top and plunger end, eliminates or reduces it.

Now I'm not talking half an inch. Just smooth them off.

Thanks guys. And as luck would have it, I have to kill a few hours in the Edina area tomorrow, so I'm planning on stopping by SS Billiards for some games.

If you like. Bring your coil stop and plunger with and I'll show you what I mean.
