I have a feeling this repaint I’m doing is not sitting well with some people lol. The play field was planking like crazy and the inserts were well sunken. The current second play field in it now is still not the best in the condition but playable. It could just use some touch ups and a new clear but will always look worn.

#52 34 days ago

This thing is looking amazing man!

#53 33 days ago

Started to do more black yesterday after the new clear was sanded. Also started the text on the inserts. Got a jump on the pop bumper caps. Sanded the old ones down and repolished them. Changed the text to the new font and made it larger so it fills the cap.

Amazing work! I love the details and tasteful customization.

I wasn't sold on the new font at first, but the more of it you see in one place, the better it looks.

All finished. It’s dripping in clear as I type. Time to move on and go hard on the mechanics now.

Original pop bumper design needed to be changed in my opinion. Star was cool but thought something reflecting the designed on the play field would work nicely.

Interesting... Really like your skill and work... I'm actually embarking on my own Sinbad restoration right now... Mine won't be as good as yours. You got really nice skills and while I have some skills in some areas... You are far better in many others.
Still... I really liked this thread and you gave me some ideas. Great work.

Going to let the clear cure for a week before sanding and polish. Got started on the drops and pops.

Well it went back under the knife as I forgot to finish his eyes. New clear is on and sanded down to 2000 grit today. Tomorrow I think I can finish the polish.

Damn man, that looks spectacular. I remember that pinball from when I was a kid, but I can't remember where it was that I played it.

#69 11 days ago

All polished up. Not all good news. Some contamination got into the 3000 grit wet sanding and caused some heavy scratching it’s not paint deep but it still slightly present after buffing going to live with it as I think i will strip it down again and reclear it when doing another machine play field in the future. It’s time to start to repopulate and get this ready for yegpin. Don’t think I’m going to tackle the cabinet till end of May.

We should group together a write a pinball romance novel.

He grabbed her by her long straight sides, and turned her around. His left hand griping the side tightly while he ran is free hand slowly down her smooth glossy face. In a sudden motion with pure lust he grabbed her wire harness and whispered gently “let’s repopulate”

Unacceptable. Don’t worry, I’ll take it off your hands.

Really impressive! Especially considering how badly planked the original was

I just zoomed in on the picture you posted...you have some balls to post pictures of that travesty of a playfield...how dare you sir!

Harness on with no issues. Drop targets installed and ready to go. Just the decision on what colour skirts. I thought green was going to be the way but they are too light and look strange in my opinion.

Wow! I'm impressed. Fantastic job. Hard to believe this is only your second time doing this. A few more under your belt and you could get into the restoration biz to supplement your income. Well done sir!

#78 8 days ago

So clean! That is some awesome work!

#79 7 days ago

I vote yellow skirts. Those shades of red, green & blue clash with the playfield colors. White sticks out like a sore thumb. Black is a solid second choice.

#80 7 days ago

I like the clear ones. Show off all your hard work.

Quoted from Twilight1:

Ha! I didn’t even see the clear ones. That’s a solid choice. Clear has my vote.

#82 7 days ago

Clear would be cool, didn't notice it at first either, but black seems to always get my vote. goes with anything, great contrast, only time I wouldn't vote black is if the area behind it was black.

very impressive sinbad, I hope mine turns out 1/10th as well whenever it makes it to the top of the list.

#83 7 days ago

Well I will try yellow first. Till I tear it down again after yegpin. Finished the harness today and it’s in its new home.

Made new rails today on the planer and will cut them to length tomorrow.

You make me want to walk downstairs and set my Sinbad on fire. Awesome work.

Jaw-dropping work.

One minor suggestion: yellow flipper rubber?

Oh your onto something. I will have to order some next time but all I have right now is red.

With the lane guides above the flippers being yellow, what about upper flipper rubbers in orange, lower in red. Kind of flame-adjacent.
