Quoted from KrustyBurger:

BTW - the red display in the TF looks perfectly matched to the game and is much clearer when animation is happening. As I own a TF LE w/ the original orange plasma display, if given a choice I would absolutely go for the red!

Hm, that's an interesting idea. Maybe I'll see about swapping the plasma display into my new Tron when it arrives and put the red LED display into TF-LE.

Just got shipping confirmation for Tron! Should be here next week. Can't wait!

Just checked the tracking info on mine and read the 3 sweetest words in the English language:

"Out For Delivery"

Greetings programs!

Sigh, less than 20 games in and the disc opto stopped working.

Quoted from BLACK_ROSE:

Man that Suck's !! Keep us informed How you handle this .. Good Luck

A friend came over and we took the opto assembly apart. A trace on the mini transmitter board was bad so we just connected with a little bit of wire and it started working. I'm still going to ask Stern if they'll send me replacement optos though. No idea how long our little "hack" will hold.

Quoted from Jetfire:

Nooo! Don't say that, at least you got a temp fix, but ugh...

I wish I could say I'm surprised, but unfortunately it appears yet again that the final step in Stern's quality control process is "Delivery to Customer".

At least it's a simple fix.

Oh and of course this morning the left slingshot stops working!

Coil fires in coil test though so it may be just a broken wire.

BUT STILL!!!!

#665 11 years ago

Slingshot issue was in fact simply a snapped wire. 2 minutes w/ the soldering iron & I'm back in business. Makes me wonder what else is gonna break though…

On a more positive note, may I present the best part of the NIB experience.

Teaching your sons to double flip, eh Benaar!! Bad father!

Heh, you can't see it in the picture, but he actually has the ball cradled on the left flipper. He tends to just hold both flippers up and wait for the ball to come to rest before shooting and to be honest I'm quite amazed how often that works for him!

Quoted from PinballCharlie:

So far, so good! No problems in shipping and everything is working great so far!

Nice! Enjoy it.

Quoted from Mateui:

The translite looks so awesome in person.

Took me 3 days to take down the factory CG score, I must be getting rusty!

Quoted from Mateui:

Anyone have any tips for lightcycle multiball actually?

Lightcycle is way easier to complete during regular play than in Sea of Simulation. In SoS you have to hit every shot, during multiball you only need to complete a single double-super jackpot combo. Easiest way to do this is to trap one ball on each flipper then let the left flipper button halfway out so the upper flipper goes down but the bottom one says up. Now, from the right flipper shoot the left ramp. When the ball returns combo to Quorra then as it comes around to the upper flipper push the button all the way in to activate the upper flipper and hit the right ramp (or the Gem shot would work too but the right ramp is easier). There ya go. Done.

I'd be interested to hear from you new Tron owners as to whether or not your game gets dirty really fast (see previous thread: http://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/nib-tron-sure-gets-dirty-fast).

I've spent about as much time cleaning mine as I have playing it. :/

My Tron arrived a few minutes ago. My first NIB 'unboxing' will start in an hour!

Congrats!
