Yes, Jack asked him to sit up front and said he was an old friend when he came in.
Jack wants Stern to be successful, but he also wants to be even more successful than Stern.
He went on to say something to the effect that everybody likes choice and what a boring world it would be if you did not have choices, and that if he had the last pinball business you could just go ahead an slap an L for loser on his forehead. Nobody wants to be last in a dying business.
