I like to listen to pod casts when they have interviews with people like PL, SR, MG and those types of pinball rock stars. I feel that I get more out of audio interviews than reading a transcript (but I read those as well). I have never met most of these people so it feels like im "connecting" more by hearing their voice and attitude that just can't come across in text. Getting the contacts needed to get in touch with these types, and get their cooperation would be difficult at best... and of course they are a rare and dwindling breed.
I do not like to listen to a bunch of jibber jabber about what the hosts did last weekend or what was going on in the 80's or 90's (no offense Silverball) I tune in for content, not filler. I share DrAzzy dislike of music, sound effects and other distractions. discussions are fine as long as they are relevant to the subject, I.e. PINBALL.
The one thing that really makes me stop listening is the the inconsistency of the broadcasts. sometimes you will get one a week (or month) for 2 or 3 weeks (or month) and then nothing for weeks or months. I just don't have the dedication to keep checking their site to see if they uploaded a new show.
With this being said I would find it really hard to produce a quality show with relevant content on a consistent basis. I respect anyone who puts this amount of work and energy into these projects (I used to do these for a major gaming site in the early to mid 90's) and applaud their efforts. would I tune in? heck ya, but I won't stick around if you can't keep my attention.
