Me and the misses disagree about the leg protectors
I say without them looks much better and as we are not restoring the cabinet paintwork to pristine condition I don't see the point of them. She won the toss though.

That kind of protector will do more damage than the legs.. so they should go.

Could you elaborate a bit more for er-indoors to digest?

Throw those away. I did. Use metal plates, like the ones from Stern Pinball.

yeah, just get the felt leg protectors. they're invisible to the eye, and not only will they not damage the cabinet more than the legs do, but will properly protect it from normal leg damage.

I only use them if I am trying to cover up existing damage or if they were already installed on the game before I bought it. You are much better off using the Stern style protectors that make it so the leg doesn't even touch the machine.

Here's a link to the ones I'm talking about ...

On a cabinet with decals, the style you are using will wrinkle the decals more than the legs alone.

I personally use Stern style ones linked above on all cabinets with repaints or new decals.

er-indoors says that we don't have any decals on the cabinet just paintwork so they will be fine.
Have agreed that they can stay on for 6 months and when they come of and have left damage then they can go in the bin. Marriage is a 50/50 thing I suppose

I recently put the metal standoffs on all my pins that did not have them.
I kept the plastics protectors to hide the damage on some of them.
The felt are nice if there is no damage.

I have used the large style on painted cabinets with no problem at all, on a cabinet with decals I cannot say.

Just picked up a set of the "Stern style" plastic ones which are much smaller, they seemed to work just fine.
