I got a tip on a Party Zone for sale. All I know is that it does not turn on, and that the seller wants 895 for it. The seller doesn't know anything about pinball, so asking questions is out. No key either. It's kind of far away from me, so I can't really just show up and inspect it myself. Do you think it's worth going through the hassle for?

#2 10 years ago

No. At $500, maybe. But not at $895.

#3 10 years ago

Yes, Party Zone is an under rated game IMHO.
You should be able to part it out for that if it is a basket case.

They should be able to tell you if there is play field wear.
Just make sure it is complete.
I.E. All boards, transformers, coils etc. are present.

It depends on how much you want a Party Zone. It's a tough game to find. Although you can argue it's for a reason.

The key might be - was it working where it was at some point? If so, you can at least figure that everything is there, it just needs work (probably a new MPU due to battery leakage, would be my guess). If it wasn't ever working, it's a real crapshoot and probably not worth the money.

Expect to spend $500+ on repairs. If that sounds like it might be worth it, there ya go

Dead game. $500 tops, assuming good cosmetic condition. Could turn into a money pit.

It's not a game that is high on my wish list by any means, but I'll pick up any game if it's a good deal. Sounds like the general consensus is "too risky". Oh well.

#7 10 years ago

Too risky what if there were damaged boards inside .

#8 10 years ago

No Risk-No reward!

IF there is no PF wear and everything is there I'd snap it!
PZ is fun game but can get annoying!

I like PZ...I don't like the cost of finding parts for it. I think its too much of a gamble at almost 900 since they don't sell for a ton. I found selling mine was a pain as its not a popular title

The problem is, he can't inspect it and the seller can't answer any questions.

If you *could* see it, verify there was no major wear, all the boards were there and not hacked, and it was decent condition, it may be worth an offer. But sight unseen, at $895, no way.

Problem is, after investing time and money into getting it working again, it's still a Party Zone!

It's quirky, bit of a drain monster but I guess it's worth having if you've got no other (better) options.

Nice one with DP playfield sold for $1k around here recently. No way I would touch any non working game for that price (barring A titles). $500 is my rule of thumb for B/C DMD titles and popular Sys 11s if they don't work and God knows what kind of issues, $350 or below for everything else in that non-working category.

I've been hunting relentlessly for the last few weeks, to no avail. So much so that it's making me actually consider a PZ, ha.

Too much risk, not worth it.

IF you live where I live you take a few more chances.

IT costs me 450 to ship a machine. Whenever I can find one local, even if its high
it still beats buying a machine COMPLETELY unseen. At least he can back out of the deal
once he looks at it.

Some of you are too spoiled living in a big city with a lot to choose from. Me I can fix anything
so I won't worry too much about a non-working machine IF everything is there.

Amen. I only wish I could find a PZ for $895. If you're into the game at all, go check it out!

#18 10 years ago

How far? If its within an hour, go see it. If it's within 2, anything else in that area you want to see?

I think its worth less, but you need to see it to determine how much less. I bought a non-working game once that really was just a fuse...

Please ignore Milton. He lives in the middle of nowhere and someone has stolen his stapler.

Where I will take it at that price because it will look good to my DR DUDE

#21 10 years ago

It's interesting, for as many people telling me "not worth it", I have an equal number of people PMing me asking for the info.

It's about a 6 hour drive for me. Way too far for the risk. I guess one of my buddies in the area is going to go look at it and might nab it, otherwise I'd pass the info on. Sorry :/

#22 10 years ago

Six hours is a long drive one way.
Depending on your vehicle that could be a deal breaker.
I thought it was closer to you. I drive about 3-4 max for a machine.

Be sure to post some pics of it if he gets it or not would like to see what a 800 buck party zone looks like. last one I seen on craiglist was 1000+ after the person changed the price a few times

#24 10 years ago

I had two PZ when I first began collecting. One had ramps in great shape, the other not so much.
Also, Captain Bzar was good on both. Sold better machine for $1600 (had new decals), sold the other one for $1000. prices seem to be escalating on every pinball regardless of titles. Over a four year period, I have seen 10 PZ machines in the south go up for sale all in the $1000 give or take a few hundred range.

#25 10 years ago

Not a very good game IMO.. Offer $500 for it..

#26 10 years ago

I have really gotten back into PZ since I put leds in it. It looks really good with all the different colors flashing.

#27 10 years ago

The condition of the ramps is critical. Replacement PZ ramps aren't available at this time.

I think if you put in your original post that it was 6 hours one way to pick it up, many more people would have said to pass. My pin hauler is a Toyota Sequoia. It would cost me at least $200 in fuel to drive 12 hours. For me, and I suspect many more, that would make it a $1100 NW PZ. IMHO it is not worth it. Pass it on to one of your friends.
