Quoted from gweempose:Wow, some of you guys have amazing 80's collections! At the moment, these are my only two ...
how did the LED's work out in Farfalla? I tried it years ago, before the LED technology changed, and they looked like crap, ghosted like crazy or didn't work at all. New stuff probably looks a lot better.
Quoted from CaptainNeo:How did the LED's work out in Farfalla?
I think they look fantastic! No ghosting at all. The only issue I have at the moment is that I used LEDs in the backbox to light the insert, and there is some hotspotting. I'm sure this could be corrected with different LEDs, but I used what I had lying around.
Quoted from Gnatty:That is one beautiful looking Gorgar. Wow!
Thanks Gnatty. It was my first restore attempt and I think it came out pretty well. I had alot of fun working on it.

I have LEDs in my Farfalla as well, with no issues. They make the colors in that game just look Sooooo cool!!!

Quoted from JohnDelNJ:Here's some of my Gorgar. Your Centaur looks great! Sadly I've never played one.
That Gorgar looks great! Buzz me sometime and come on over. Centaur and the bug chick love visitors.
Once smoke settles from the holidays and my new job I hope to have a pin gathering.

Do you remember what LEDs you used for the backglass?
Quoted from blownfuse:Here are some of the System 80's I have set up at the moment.
Cool pics! I have never seen some of these pins in person. Nice collection.
so strange that nice feeling by just seing that wonderful LOST WORLD (tanx)
about Sorcerer, its another masterpiece for sure, i still miss it since i (have to !) sold it
Another Farfalla owner here and a couples of Bally from the 81 millésime! Both Farfalla and Medusa are the "X-rated" version...
Great thread!
Edit:I guess that didn't work...
Thanks, I try to keep games in the gameroom that you don't get to play often. I have many more System 80's set up that I haven't taken pictures of yet or are waiting for new playfields, just need more time to do it.
Quoted from doughslingers:Cool pics! I have never seen some of these pins in person. Nice collection.
Quoted from gweempose:Do you remember what LEDs you used for the backglass?
I'm pretty sure I used the CT 180 wide cool white ones for the backbox...
@ Andre Farfalla (mine is also my avatar pic) is not the X rated version!! It is THE best version!!
Phoebe
Andre,
Nice lineup! What's going on with your Farfalla backglass? It looks like some of the artwork is there, but the neon is exposed. I can't quite figure it out.

BF has some rare games restored to stellar condition.
Always a treat to play them at PAGG, his lineup of sys. 80's is world class and a major highlight of the show.
Quoted from CaptainNeo:Blackout? More like Wood out. here's my 80's babbies.
Yes it was, until I touched it up and clearcoated it.

Touched it up??...understatement of the year! Very nice work!

Quoted from 72Devilz:I am curious if this is a before and after picture of your PF touch up. If so I am very interested in what process you went through and what type of paint you used as mine while not as bad as your before picture has some wear around the bonus light area that I hope to touch up some day.
Truth be told, this is not an actual before shot, but mine was very similar. Heavily worn to the wood in the center(as well as lots of other places) and then a full sheet of mylar was put over it, making more original artwork disappear upon removal. I did this one back around 1999.
I work with automotive paints for a living and have honed my color matching skills over time. Paint brushes, paint and HVLP spraying of auto clear. There was little info and pics on the internet back then, so it was kinda hard to match perfect detail. I have learned so much since then, but I am still pleased with how it looks and plays. I have to tell people that it had a 5x8 inch area right it front of them(and other smaller areas) that was worn to the wood.
Quoted from coasterguy:My two favorites as a kid.
Not pin related but...
Haaa I was an extra on RAD,was filmed mostly in my hometown.
Quoted from perryd:How rare is the Mephisto?
Hahahaha!! Really?? I think this is even more rare than Spooky! Do you ever see one of these at a show anywhere?? There's actually a vid on YouTube for it.

Got it that way,it's not an original. At some point someone had a repro made using (maybe) the file on David Gersic site.It turned out very very pale and looks faded. You can't see much of the flowers that are on the glass
It's good enough for now as i'm more of a player then a collector. It is my favorite pin...

Cool, let me know whats good for you. Busy here too, dying to start my Earthshaker restore but gotta finish the bathroom rebuild first.
Quoted from LEE:Yes it was, until I touched it up and clearcoated it.
I think at that point it's no longer a touchup...it's a repaint. I'd love to see the pictures. I'd have to charge a fortune to do a playfield in that bad of shape. congrats to you on that major accomplishment.
Quoted from jar155:I still can't believe we never got a Ghostbusters pin...
is this a tribute to DE pins? Lots of DE pins in this photo. Would make a great virtual cabinet art.
Quoted from DrJoe:Here's my current '80's line-up....
Nice DrJoe! Great collection of classics. Really dig the early 80's pins
Quoted from jar155:I still can't believe we never got a Ghostbusters pin...
I'm still waiting for JAWS !

Bought it for $75 and when I got home, I thought I paid too much.
Ugly! Cab falling apart. Non-working. Missing PF parts. When I finally got it to boot, fixed the sound board, and found all of the parts, I started to get inspired. Touched up the PF and cleared it and it played great. FAST.
Sold it to a friend for a while for cheap, but got it back. Eventually had to re-do the 40 pin and PS board to calm it down. Touched up the cabinet and took it to the Ohio Show 2 years(three this spring) ago and just couldn't sell it to the person who wanted it. Way too much of me in it. I know I could probably do up a nicer one, but this was one of my early pin purchases.
Quoted from DrJoe:Here's my current '80's line-up....
Nicest Paragon ever! (not to offend any previous postings).
And not that your others are not nice as well.
Quoted from jar155:I still can't believe we never got a Ghostbusters pin...
Or a Blade Runner or Alien pin...
@Dr Joe !
Hey
Your Vintage serie of Stern machines seems wonderfull .
Could you post more pictures of this wonderful Stargazer ..
Quoted from jlm33:Adding a Bally spectrum to the gallery...
Beautiful and rare pin - weird game design you can actually love or hate...or both!
Awesome, thanks for sharing!
Blownfuse, you're starting to piss me off because you have a lot of pins I want!!
DrJoe, why do you have to be on the opposite side of the state away from me?? I'd love to come see your collection when I come out for Pinburgh or PAPA sometime!
LBJ....I usually have pre-parties for both Pinburgh and PAPA, with local folks and some out-of-towners. Drop me a line closer to Pinburgh and we can catch some games....
Joe
