My experience on my Laser Cue (a couple years older than Grand Lizard) and Swords of Fury (a couple years newer) is that you don't see the leading one of your score (so a score of 10,007,450 looks like 0,007,450), but the machine recognizes that you've rolled it over, and saves your score in the high score table as 9,999,999. You automatically get #1 no matter what your score is when you roll it over.

On my Swords of Fury, if you roll it over at 10M and then get back to replay, you get another replay. A guy I knew claimed to have rolled it over twice and gotten back to replay again to get 3 replays.
