Hey guys, I have an 8 ball that the 4 ball will not light at the top of the Playfield. Not the bulb, socket or wiring. It is a scr q57 (2N5060). The scr tests good with game off and with the game on, shorting the anode to ground it does not light. I have continuity from the socket (with the bulb out) and the connector on the lamp driver board as well as the anode of the scr. I have read that by shorting the anode to ground and the light doesn't come on it means it's not a board issue. Is this true? Could it still be the cmos decoder? Hopefully something dumb is just going over my head. Thanks guys!

It's not the decoder. That is upstream of the SCR.
Are you sure the bulb is good?

In lamp test, jumper from the solder tab of a working controlled lamp socket to the 4 socket. Does the 4 lamp light?

Hey Chris. I worded that wrong, I meant to say it better light, and it does. Definitely rules out lamp and socket. I can triple check continuity from the lamp light up to the pinout if that's what your thinking.

OK...now we know the socket/lamp is good.
It is possible to show continuity through a connection, but the connection isn't good enough to allow current to flow sufficiently to drive the device. I'd check the male/female pins on the lamp driver board.

I've gotten to the point that it's easier to simply repin those 4 male connectors before doing anything else. They just wear out, and have fractured solder joints.

Finally got back to this. Used a temp wire and jumpered the ground from a working lamp since connector was off. Still no light. Then i u soldered the scr from what controls the 3 ball and swapped them. Now the 4 ball works and the 3 ball doesn't. Just need a new scr now.
Thanks for your help
