I was wondering if I can use a 74LS08 in place of 7408 on a DE CPU.

This is what I was currently looking at as an alternative - https://www.jaycar.com.au/74ls08-quad-2-in-and-gate-ic-low-power-schottky/p/ZS5008

    Will this work.

It depends which 7408. If the 7408 output is going to the base of a transistor (usually solenoid problems are what blow out 7408s), do no not use the LS, HC or HCT versions. Get 74F08, 74S08, or plain 7408

Thank you everyone. The output is going to the base of a transistor so I will look to source a 4F08, 74S08, or 7408.

barakandl Thanks for the link to digikey.
