    Quoted from Pinsrgrt:

    What does it do?

It pairs with the Fluke 9010a microsystem controller to allow you to take control of 6809/6809E based systems. There are different pods for different CPUs -- z80, 6502, 6809, 6802, 8080, on and on -- there's a load of them. So, in tandem with the 9010a, this pod would work on WPC games, Stern Whitestar, whatever uses 6809/6809E based hardware. You remove the CPU chip and plug the pod into the CPU chip socket, which in turn, is plugged into the 9010a and it allows the 9010a to "takeover" the board. You can check busses for stuck data and address lines, verify ROM checksums, read and write from RAM, etc. It is one of the most in depth diagnostic tools you can utilize, but usually reserved for the really difficult repairs.

    Any different than this?
    ebay.com link: itm

That's an 8086 pod for Intel 8086 CPUs. Each pod is for a specific CPU. The more useful ones for arcade/pinball repair are the more sought after and expensive: z80, 6502, etc. The 6809 is the rarest/hardest to find pod and the most useful for pinball machines from the 90s and 2000s. Many Williams arcade boards also use 6809.
