Does anyone make a good quality tester for pinball CPU ICs such as the 6808?

I did find one on Ebay, and it is pretty inexpensive, but are there any other options I am not seeing?

I had an idea to for a 6802 / 6821 tester that would be just a bare bones setup with a CPU, PIA, ROM, and minimal components. Then a pinball test ROM could be run and you can check the CPU and PIA with LED blocks. I never followed through with it tho figuring it wouldn't be that popular.

To test CPUs I just have pinball MPUs with a ZIF socket and I boot test the CPUs and let them run for an hour or so. Look for boards that use all the address lines. Seems like if a used pull survives 30 minutes or so it will run for basically forever. If its bad most will just not work initially and small portion will fail within the first 30 minutes after it warms up.

I'm working on a LW3 using Leon's test ROM. I've got 3 PIAs with dead outputs.

Since the PIAs are "sort of" working, I assume the CPU is working.

But that got me thinking about a tester that would tell me 100% it was working.

I already own the Neoloch tester, but I dont see a blade for any type of CPU.
And if the PIAs were socketed, I'd be able to throw those in the Netloch tester to confirm my findings.

Yes please! 1 of each please!

Any idea on pricing at this point? "Not expensive as hell" could mean a lot of things.

I found this a while back. I don't own one so no idea about its usefulness. I'm curious if anyone here has one.

If only Neoloch had a way to test them. I already own one of those!

Unfortunately neoloch has hung up his hat with the inquisitor (per his website). So getting a cpu tester from the cpushack is probably your only option.

Is the cpushack tester worth the cost? The price stopped me from buying it. I just like having test equipment even if it may never be financially beneficial.

Those are all X86 compatible cpus… wouldn't work for Motorola compatible cpus like the 68xx
